WO3 Benefits all. Leave it

I don't really want to hijack, here, but I have to say it--One of the aspects of the Larry Holland space sim series that made it interesting wasmanaging thereactor and capacitor management systems in game while trying to keep your ship from exploding, adjusting your speed, and keeping good enough situational awareness so that you don't end up drifting too close to an enemy capital ship or let that group of assault gunboats that just launched start popping off missiles at you.

WO3 REMOVES what could have been a (perhaps somewhat distorted) reflection of this game mechanic alltogether.

With WO3, you could fly a b-wing with a level 1 crafted capacitor with all guns blazing constantly without worrying about running out of energy. With a slightly better capacitor, you don't even need to pay the slightest bit of attention to the energy/shot stat on your weapon. Unused stats sure are wonderful.

With WO3, there is no need to load anything more than a mark 1 reactor in your ship. You should still be able to run the full series of overload 4s, except for OL3. Real swell, there. I'm sure the shipwrights are mighty pleased with that.

With WO3, there is no advantage in flying ships with a single cannon. A single cannon should be an enormous savings on your capacitor and on your reactor. As it stands, it is only a liability when taking dps into consideration.

With WO3, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for there to be disruptors in the game, save for attacking specific capital-sized targets. They could have had limited usefulness as an alternating weapon group loadout (eg, a krayt with an ion cannon (group 1), a baster (group 1, 2), and a disruptor (group 2)) as it stands, there's no purpose in grouping your weapons at all, save for perhaps in mining.

WO3 may benefit pilots who don't want to think/do a little math to come up with some balanced numbers for their ship. I don't want to typecast those who hope that WO3 doesn't get fixed as part of that percentage of the populace as those with a subhuman fear of rational thought, but it is tempting to do so.

Apologies for the hijack. Back on topic:

I like Mr. Breinhar's idea. With the exception of forseeing more AFK loot/xp mining at a certain spawn point in Endor, and in a few spots in Kashyyyk space (which is going to be unavoidable if there is any sort of prestige requirement involved--perhaps an additional FP requirement would be in order?), and a mix in space/ground quests to find/procure appropriate highly regulated components would be fun and have a really cool looking reward.

I hope SOE doesn't take an easy out with this and just drop cap ships (aside from the easily attained Y-8 (which will qualify, IMO, as a cap ship if they put those two more turrets on it)) on everyone.

I'd rather capital ships showed SKILL in getting them, not "I ground xxxx exp".

Capital ships should be to Pilots what Jedi should have been on the ground game. Lets not make the same mistake again.

Make them cost 500 million prestige, and you'll see a lot less newbies and "doitformes" getting them.

Also, there should be a RIS-style space quest to attain the parts, and have the parts made using said parts in cooperation with shipwrights.

I say shipwrights canget certrain'parts' from RE'ing, not unlike theKSE.
Each part they get is one part of the ship, bridge, sheild casing, navigation systems, hyperdrive, etc. After this, they do a quest for the chassiswhich would take a assload of resources, but not so much you couldnt get them in a single sift, like 15million of X.

For pilots, I say 500m points and then a quest system, a long and challenging, key word there, not 'omfg I need 47 aces and 60 million to do this' hard.

Dear SOE and or Idiot:

I would say let the SW buildCapital ship blueprint, but let the pilot exchange his prestige points with a trainer pilot, or chassis dealer to receive the license to fly the Capital ship. So both Shipwrights and pilots get a part of it.
