Thread: Should i hold out?
I must not be living right when it comes to lvl 8 shields. I think the best I have is just under 30k.
But like the other 10 RE projects I have waiting it will just sit in the bag til I get parts to do the job right.

Same here 30ish level 8 shields and my lowest in the upper 29k region thats not counting the dozens ive seen on shipwright RE vendors. Its the only thing i need now. Recharge 16+ check, Drain sub 1600 check, Level 8 reward for high HP check, Mass under 26k god hates me.

The mass ranges on looted shields was stealth nerfed sometime after JTL launched (I don't remeber the exact patch, but I believe it happened in the same patch that capacitors were nerfed in.) 23k masslevel 8 shieldsused to be much more common. Now they're a 1 in 1000 loot, if they even drop at all. When JTL first came out, looted shields used to have the same potential mass ranges as engines of the same level. That is no longer the case. My guess is that the potential mass ranges for shields was raised by about 10%or so, or in other words, looting a level 8 shield with 26k mass is about as good of find as looting a level 8 engine with 23k mass.
The 23k mass LvL 8 Shields do still exist. I read this post and wasa little bummed that they may not drop any more. Today while running a Tier4 Reb Duty mission (Black Sun) I looted a LvL 8 Shield whith 23905.5 mass. That puts my current LvL8 shield job with the following Pre-RE numbers.
Armor: 791.0 (Estimated RE to 830.6)
HP: 791.0 (Estimated RE to 830.6)
Energy: 2047.9 (No change in RE)
Mass: 23905.5 (Estimated RE to 22710.2)
Front: 2433.2 (Estimated RE to 2554.9)
Back: 2433.5(Estimated RE to 2555.2)
Recharge:15.54 (Estimated RE to 16.32)
I'm going to hold out a little on this and see if I can get the energy drain down a little and see if I can get a little better Recharge.

You mean there is still HOPE? This waiting for a low mass shield is KILLING me. Yeah I already have 2 reward shields RE'd and in use. But I have this 18.3 Recharge Rate shield that I've been hanging on to for over 6 months now. I have gone thru at least 500 level 8 shield loots looking for a mass under 25K to RE it with. My current low mass shield is 27K+ and I am determined to hold out REing that uber recharge til I get at least a 24-25k mass shield first. Anybody on SS with 24k or lower want to sell theirs?
