Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It will probably fail me a day, but until that it is absolutely awsome. My prior stick was a Logitech 3D Digital, that was even marginally better, but -guess what- failed me a day
. Still they both handle so well that I consider they offset the limited lifetime, that seems to be well over a year. (I have this for quite awhile now and it's still flawless.)

I use a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar with "Über II nxt"-mod and Simped F-16 rudder-pedals - I'll never touch any other stick again! ![]()

I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro. Nice joystick, enough buttons for everything, and throttle control.
It's really nice, except the stick shakes when you collide with another ship... if I could just turn that off, it'd be perfect.

X52. great j/sick even have one button for TS, so no need to touch the keyboard.
Are you able to swap the yaw and roll on the X52? I cant do it on my Top Gun Fox 2 Pro.

I have one of the older Saitek ST Pro series with 4 buttons and throttle.
However a great joystick on its own, when combined with a nsotromo N52, Blows the opposition away!!

When JTL came out, I did not own a joystick of any sort. I tried it with the keyboard, but just got nowhere. So I went out and got a Logitech 3D Extreme Pro, as it wasn't that expensive and was the only joystick they had on display that was even remotely comfortable to hold. It is a nice joystick, but after a few months it started going flaky on me. I was constantly unplugging/replugging it at the end to get it to re-initialize itself as it would otherwise drift in some direction even when I wasn't moving it and other such problems. Play for 10 minutes and then it is drifting again and would have to unplug and replug it again. Or instead of drifting, it would be superaccellerate to the left, but only have half-movement to the right -- things like that.
When Pub 24 came out I wanted to do more space mining, but finally got completely frustrated with the Logitech's flakiness. So this time I asked a bunch of the gamer guys in the office for their recommendation, and they told me to get a Saitek X52. Looking at it, I was a bit apprehensive, but I broke down and purchased one. The X52 has taken some getting used to, but it seems much better built than the Logitech. And I appreciate the fact you can adjust it for the size of your hands. I spent some time remapping controls within galaxies (making a custom profile with their software is so not me) but now I can fly without needing the keyboard, which is nice. Still feels really weird to have the separate joystick and throttle, and I doubt I'm using it to its full potential. But I'll get used to it. And hopefully this one doesn't go all goofy on me like the Logitech did... hehe

Saitek ST290 pro....good budget stick. Its kinda light in the base and the buttons are close but has everything you need for JTL.

It seems like a lot of people are using the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, or have done so and is now using either Saiteks X45 or X52.

Every single person I've met in game usesa joystick... but every single SWG player I know IRL, including myself, swear up and down by the mouse. Must be a Midwest thing. I tried the joystick for about ten minuites and hated every minuite of it(and this is after beating freespace 1 and 2 with one). I'm simply far more accurate with the mouse. The secret is in the sensitivity, you want to never be picking up your hand. In essesnce, you wind up using it like a joystick in the end anyway, but with more accuracy because your using your fingers and hand instead of arm and wrist.
