So now you're an Ace because of a bug and letting someone play your endgame for you.... feel good about it?

Oh - and for the record...no matter how you justify it by "verifying it as a bug" - you did the same thing.

Also, since it's bound to come up (and because I can't find the damn "edit" button anywhere...) I'd been on three Corvette raids when I was finally able to do mine. All of them with groups of 6+ people, and it was fun. When it came time for me to do mine, however, I couldn't get enough pilots together to help. I was looking for them on Coronet when this A-Wing Ace asked me if I "wanted to bast a 'vette"...I replied that I did, but I didn't think I could get a big enough crew together. He laughed and told me he was all I needed....just thought I'd mention in more detail how I've "ruined my endgame".

The vette is easy to solo if you know what you are doing.. This is not really a bad thing given starwars lore.. A fighter is capable of doing enourmous damage.. Oh.. and gotta love those gun boats.. Man I want one of those...

You and me both...maybe eventually we'll be able to own them - I'd imagine them being rather expensive and taking a good sized crew (10, maybe?) to run.

Hopefully they're introduced as like a quest or something, where you have to complete it before you're certified.

There is no master freelance trainers. The tier 4 trainer will send you to either the Reb or Imp master trainer depending on which faction you chose.

Also we already have gunboats. That's basically what our MP ships are, the only problem is gunboats hit with like 90% accuracy with their turrets and there is no way that is possible with a player manning a turret. I still find it humerous that a gunboat is much more difficult to kill than either the Corvette or the Star Destroyer and that's even without using the exploits to do it.

As for the bugged final mission for the freelance tree, well I'm not really sure it's a bug at all. If you pay close attention to the system message that comes up when the gunboats spawn it says something like "It's a trap get out of there". I knew how tough gunboats were from getting too cocky with a tier 4 when I was leveling up, and I noticed I had already gotten the mission success message. I wasn't about to tangle with three of them with escorts in tow on my own, so I took his advice and got the heck out of there. I went back to the trainer and he congragulated me and sent me on my way to the Rebel master trainer on corellia.

If it's difficulty you're looking for try out one of the SA tier 4 duty missions that spawn TIE agressors as the masters. Nothing like taking on 5 tier 4 agressors at one time to keep ya on your toes.

you are describing a different mission apparently. in the current SA box mission, it starts with destroying 5 ties (including a tier 5), then jump to another system and destroy a single tier 4 gunboat with an escort of 4 firesprays. the escort is cake, but the gunboat is, as far as i can tell, very very hard to solo. the main problem is that it moves so fast : 700 top speed and turns around in less than 2 seconds. add to that a turret range of 650 (longer than missile range) and the fact that it'll chew through the best shields in less than 5 seconds makes strafing a rather daunting prospects. i have tried a variety of tactics involving IFF and space bombs I (not exactly something easy or cheap to get by...) and the best i have managed so far was to scratch its armor.

Ok I got the numbers screwed up because I was looking at someone else's post and it has been a while since I have done this one myself. The main point is still valid however, which is that the system message flashes on screen that it is a trap and tells you to get out of there. You do not have to kill the gunboat, and that's not a bug.

hmmm i'll have to retry this mission then, because i certainly do not remember getting this message... is the mission only killing the first 5 tie fighters and just hyping in and out of that gunboat's system ?

When I did it I got the message as soon as I came up on the gunboat and it's escorts. I helped a friend do it about a week ago maybe, and it was the same thing there. Unless they have changed something since then it should still be the same. Take out the first set of TIE's hyper into the second system and get close to the gunboat spawn. When you get close you should get the message, then the mission is complete, but I think if you attack the gunboat and die you fail the mission.

I think that once you get the message thats its a trap you have completed the mission.

I seem to remember doing this mission and soloing it, andI was cocky when the gunboats appeared and had a go at them. I lasted about 3 seconds but still got the mission credit, soI think its just a matter of getting the "Trap" message and getting out of Dodge.

Burt.

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals
