The A-Wing should not be nearly invincible!!!
Please make the thing a bigger size so it is atleast possible to target and kill.

Not being funny but Rebel pilot specials are rubbish, our droid programs are rubbish, so it seems fair that we get the best ship in the game

Find a droid program vendor and load them up! You can use any droid program you can get your hands on. I use all the freelancer programs and some of the rebel ones too.

But what we are able to program is nowhere near as good as the Imp and Freelance programs, engine overload 3 works especially well in the A-Wing with the pre-nerfed 92.2 speed engine RE'ed to be 95 speed.

As for it being nearly invincible, the A-Wing is a ship for true pilots with its speed and maneuverability it requires skill to use it, ESPECIALLY in PvP when you have to constantly dodge while attempting to kill your opponents, just ask how hard it was to hit me from my 22 imp kills(and how satisfying it was to kill me to the 3, of which 2 were gank squads, deaths ).

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT...The rebel programs and skills all suck.. I dont even use the rebel droid commands on my rebel pilot.. Just the nutral and imperial.

Ahhhh yes the awing debate rears its head again. hehehe.

Heres my 2 cents...

In PvE Awings are mildly amusing but have a big fat ZERO on the threat indicator. They are zippy fun little guys to chase around but they pop easy and fast.

Those blasted droid fighters are waaaaay more annoying.

My 4333 rebel pilot alt is trying his best to get his awing tricked out but its slow going. Still havent figured out what sort of mix i want or need in it. I got spoiled rotten with my master privateer main toon, the neutral ships are just amazing. =)

My Awing loadout:

REd L6 reward engine (prenerf)

REd L6 shield (best mass to hp value, low charge mitigated by CtSS)

REd L8 reward gun

REd L4 reward booster (I'd fit the L8 if I could)

Those are the key systems, everything else is pretty much low mass fluff that doesnt require much special. Reactor drain and Cap drain are minimal. Armor pointless, I may take it out altogether if it lets me put something tasty in. My shielding is solely to help me last the occasional PvE hits. Her name is the Death Sled.

Tier 5 A-wings are not much of a threat, more of an annoyance. They're not easy to hit, but when you do, they fold pretty fast. Target the engine or reactorand disable them quickly. Dont wait the 3 seconds for them to become vunrible again after disabling them. Target another A-wing and go to work.

Where the threat is with A-wings is they almost always support B or Y wings. EitherB's or Y'sin a group will ruin your day if on your tail. Wipe out the Y's and B's first before engaging the A's. If your cap can handle it, keep CtSh looped to keep your shield replenished.

As for PvP, I cant touch an A-wing in the hands of a good pilot unless they make a mistake. Perhaps I should RE my level 6 reward engine and get some better YPR stats, but I dont think it'll do much good. Awings are usually too small and too quick on their turns for me hit with much consistancy.

I keep pair of level 10 Blasters (2600+ to 4100+, 0.700+ to both armor and shield, non-RE'd) on my TIE Opressor, but I'm finding this a little boring for both PvP and PvE. These one shot kills are not all that fun (I win some and lose more so I've mounted a pair of level 9 crafted guns. These have average damage, around 1900 to 3000 and 0.480 to both armor/shield which is nothing worth mentioning, until you look at the 0.260 speed. Alternating fire between both cannons givesfighters a rate of fire more like what you see in the movies. I find it more fun to "machine gun" npc fighters to death, and in PvP, opponents last a little longer (and sometimes I pay the price for that

Bottom line is that I respect the A-wing. The performance seems to more than make up for the heavy weapons and defences on my TIE (at least until I'm a better pilot)

What would be considered the Freelancer Equivelant to the A-Wing/TIE Agressor?

I'm not sure if it'd be like a Dunelizard, or a Khirxhax (not the correct spelling, but you get the idea) or perhaps an Ixiyen?

Not meaning to hijack, of course...just curious and didn't feel another thread was neccisary.

there isnt a Freelancer equivalent at the upper end of the spectrum, this is the only downside of the introduction of the Krayt, as wonderful as it is, it is simply a better version of theRhixirk as opposed to a ship with a markedly different profile, like the differences between the Y, X, and A. Khirax is too small to put any equipment of note into it, and thus even with droid programming cant compete. I dont think its possible to oufit one with a good engine, decent weapon and acceptable shield, along with needed subsystems. Crunching numbers in my head leads me to think that you might be able to fot an RE'd L6 gun, but thats about all. Even then, the inherently high albedo (can't paint Blacksun ships for squat)and the larger shape than the Awing and TIEinterceptor, make it a much easier target than its counterparts.

Who said I was whining? I was making a logical comparison between the different fast ships in each branch and stating that the wonderful ship given to us was designed for a role that we already had a ship for. call a spade a spade, but don't call me a whiner when I'm not.
