As far as I can tell it is on a timer now.

I dunno. I'm torn between giving warning and just swooping in for the kill. Awareness of your surroundings is like 99% flying survival. You'd better believe that I'm constantly hitting the button looking out for new players. I kinda expect others to do the same.

Heck, attacking while your opponent is distracted has been sound advise since WWI.

Well.. I definately agree in spirit.. but If I had a cred for everytime someone sent me a whiney tell after I scattered their ship all over space... I wouldn't have to sell components.

I send the tell/warning because I want to make sure they know they are about to get beaten.. fair and square! Which is another reason I don't fly a JSF/Grievous.

I to wish that the abusers of the command would be baned. While I was in Kessler helping out a friend, some Rebel Jerk thought it would be fun to spam that command at me. So there I was no declared, dog fighting a a-wing and suddenly I had the incoming missile sound repeating constantly, constant screen shakes from imparting missiles, and my view cluttered by explosions.

It is the /citywarn situation all over again. There are simply to many jerks who will abuse such a function.

I will report anyone I se use it on me. and I will speech out aging the command every time I se it descried as harmless or just a fun command. While many players are mature enough to use it right, to many are not.

Of course you forgot about the B*tches that whine and complain till the most fun parts of this game are nerfed beyond all resemblance of its original self. If I ever play on that server, I will make a macro to spam missiles at JUST you. Now crawl back in your little hole and grip some more!

It is.. to a degree.. if some a$$hat spams this command at you. the missles don't fire all at once but the command queue's up.

So what happens is, even though he hit that macro 50 times. The missles fire like so... "fire... pause 5... fire.. pause 5..."

So you don't get hit a million times at once and lagged as bad. It's still a cheap trick and pilots who abuse it should be hung by their toenails until dead.

but, the funny thing is once their "victim" is not there.. the commands are still queue'd so the guy is stuck firing these missles till all the queue'd commands are done.

I find it useful for PvP in a different way. If I'm in DS and I see someonoe I want to engage. I send them a tel "/t You have Incoming!" then I hit them with a single flare from 1200m away. I make 2 fly-by's then I open fire with blasters. This way there's no possible way they can claim "I didn't see you coming! That was a cheap kill!"

To those that abuse... you're a bunch of jerks that are going to get a useful game mechanic nerf'ed just because you're suckey pilots. To those that use this command for good reasons (like I stated above) just be sure to use it correctly.

Ohh common. That IS NOT A "USEFUL" game mechanic! IT shoots fake missiles out that does NO damage! Thats not useful in the least! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN FIND A USE FOR IT, DOES NOT MAKE IT USEFUL (Silly Putty).

It is something that probably should have been taken out. Just because it can be abused so easily (I've had a macro for it sense Beta). But to say that it gives one person an advantage over another is just silly, as everybody gets to use this command... I make sure a player knows im there. if hes overt thats ALL the warning your gonna get. I feel no need to coddle you, or to be coddled. Its pvp prepare to DIE!

The truth is, as you said, this is something the Dev's "meant" to remove before going live. I agree it should/could be removed without affecting anyone in a bad way. Yeah, I found a use for it, and I agree there is no reason to "coodle" people. But on the other hand, my record in space pvp is pretty darn good on my server and I often get those "WHAAA! You shot me down again!" Tells. For me, it serves a purpose.

Also, I don't suggest people do things my way. I wouldn't cry if I got shot down because I wan't paying attention. Nor do I believe it gives one side an advantage over the other. They're simply flares imho, as long as the command is still there I will use it for the reasons I already laid out. It is useful for me. But I also don't spam the hell out of people with it.

If it goes away.. no complaints, if it stays in game.. no complaints. To call it an exploit is going a bit overboard. To call it a tool that has/is being used to grief people is right on the money though.
