Follow me on this:

ARC 170 was flown by whom? A. The clone troopers. What happens to clone troopers after E3? They join the growing ranks of the storm troopers. Where do the ARC 170 therefore end up? With the stormies.

Jedi Fighter flown by whom? A> The Jedi. What happens to them after E3? They scatter to the winds, preswumably taking their ship with them.

I really have no lust either way for these, I just find it an amusing oversight.

I agreed with you at first, and I really tried to follow the Dev logic on this one...here's what I came up with...

ARC-170: A rough predecessor (in style, shape and design) to the X-Wing Fighter
Jedi Fighter: A rough predecessor (in style and design - note the cockpit shape) to a TIE Fighter

I honestly think this is the logic the Devs were following. And...I would agree with them, as Obi-Wan would say "from a certain point of view."

Will that also include removing the "must have completed the mission to fly it" requirements?

I hope not. That would mean that players that havent done the quest could use them, and other playerscould do the quest repeatedly and sell them, killing off the Shipwright profession altogether.

Well of course it would mean that players that haven't done the quest could use them. That's sort of why I pointed that one out. I have more than one account, hence more than one pilot. Obviously you haven't done the quest yet and also haven't read the promo materials that SOE has put out there to entice people to come play their game.

First off, once you do the mission that's it. Attempt to do it again and you're told that the mission has been completed and can't be done again by you. So it's not likely that people will be selling tons of them on the auction block, "killing off the Shipwright profession altogether" as you incorrectly state.

The promo's for this expansion mention the new ships but say *nothing* about faction alignment being a requirement for use, other than the common-sense perception that Imperial ships would only be available to Imperials, etc. Rebel and Freelance pilots have the certification to fly the new ships, but only ground-based Imperial pilots can take the mission. Not exactly fair to my Shipwright/Freelance pilot that doesn't have room for combat skills, and couldn't take the Imperial mission and succeed with the second part of the ground mission, which involves killing a bunch of rebels and a wookiee freedom fighter. This little problem is also going to seriously affect all the new players that show up, since not all of them will want to be Imperials, and imagine their chagrin when they discover that to get that cool ship they saw in the movie they have to first get up some combat skills, and second become one of the bad guys.

So I think it's a fair question and also a fair solution. My crafter can't do the mission, and I can only have one ship. I should be able to re-deed it and trade it between my characters as I please.

Wow ... glad to hear the re-deed issue is being put through sooner or later.

I can't believe all the rebels and nuets crying about not being able to get the "Jedi Starfighter".

.....can we imperials have anything? .. I mean seriously the closest I can recall to this is the ones complaining about not having any ships with more than 2 gun slots to use for mining.

I'm not seeing Imperials cruising around in Kessel in thier "Jedi Starfighter" sighing, man.. I wish I had an ARC.

You pissed and moaned about one of our TIE's having a rear turret .... well you got a fighter with 2 turrets now.

We got ... more of the same. Don't get me wrong it's a neat little fighter, the expandable ion collectors are cool to toy with. But aside from loading it up and heading out to crush the rebel fleet under Lord Vaders direction, I think about 30 minutes later I was back in my usual TIE.

The ship is given to you personally by Vader to confirm your superiority as you crush the rebel fleet.

---- would we have avoided all this "no fair" if they had simply named it "Vader's Starfighter"? Or is this more a product of the "Oh, I saw that in a movie once so I need it" mentality?

I'd rather focus on the new mining ship ... you know .. the one that can't mine.

hmm im am neutral and yet i have me own wittle J E D I star fighter.. hu ha

Well, I must admit, after using this week to get to 4444 Vortex Ace Pilot, I am PISSED...

So let me get this straight...I can get the Grievous Starship, and use it no problem... but as a Rebel Jedi, the ONE item designed SPECIFICALLY for us to acquire requires that I JOIN THE FACTION THAT WANTS ME ERADICATED?

FIX THIS PLEASE!

~-

who said it was design specifically for you ? where is that at?

does this mean the jeedai starfighter needs to find a force fuel pump and load up 104 octane forcefuel?

where do you fruitcakes come up with this stuff.

im all for beating on a dev when they are wrong but if you actually did the quest you would find out why its for the imperials to do
and not some goof ball jedi with a lack of clue on how the game works.

i had me doubts as well but once i finished it it actually made sense. which almost gave me a heart attack. because i was wondering the samething.

but sense its vaders ship why would he give it to a jedi which he has a thing about destroying, an two why give it to a rebel. which he has a thing about destroying?

Why.

WHY?

whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

just pay me 100 million credits and you can have mine k?

whine about something useful would you? They actually made sense on this quest, leave it alone.

The Jedi Starfighter, however, is described as Anakin's personal ship.

FYI, Obi-Wan Kenobi also flies the same model that Anakin is flying in Revenge of the Sith.

Actually,

If you watch E3 again, you will notice a slight variation in the paneling on Obiwan's ship compared to Anakin's. Not just the color, but the contour lines do not follow the exact symetry that Anakin's does(You can spot these when Anakin tries to blast off the deteriorator bee droids). However, the JSF in SWG happends to follow Anakins exactly(hit the Num Lock key, and turn, then zoom in to check). Hence, since Vader gives you an exact copy of the one HE flew, it is in fact specifically Anakin's personal ship.
