i have no idea how you would do this faster. i tried doing the least damage possible to disable it but it still ends up with shields at 50% . so it takes a while and then it just jumps off into space. the thing is the valarians that head into the sector dont attack the ship just you. so i dont know what you would do to go faster. the only thing nirame tells you (chick that gives you the mission) is your the first one in the sector and go disable the ship. and "ask and you shall recieve" whatever the hell that means.

i thought they did, i tried flying ahead but of course they spawn in front of the freighter. they fly past it without shooting, then come around, take an eternity and then shoot at it every once in a while. its easy to miss and maybe they only attacked because i was 2000m away (whats m btw? meters? miles? better dont be meters or i had cars that are faster than those ships).

which is of course funny because that freighter so far ALWAYS is already there when i enter. also, it seems the escort part isnt about distance to reach a certain point but time to keep it alive. if you take the closest hyperspace point (4km away) and disable it before dealing with the escort it seems to travel a fair bit further (way past the asteroids where it usually jumped the first few times).
and the only good thing about this mission is that you get about 250k xp before it fails and its only sluggish and easy targets (compared to the annoying ties you face in the generic tier 4 missions)

Has anyone been able to finish this mission yet? I tried it 10hrs ago and still got a failure when it should have been successfull.

me? still failure. i pretty much burned all the armor on my capacitor away just to do it faster (because isnt it nice how the displayed stats arent updated just by using v to open/close the window but only when you (re)select the component? only realized it after the next launch). well, for now i dont see much point in playing as this mission is blocking the progress anyway.

Same problem here.
I'm going to try my "Disable everything' tactic and let the Valarians implode on thier own. No XP, but it might work.

Same problem here, tried it twice now. I Solo'd it the first time, didn't notice I failed, so I thought the Valarian's must have blown it up while I was fighting them. The second time, I had a Master pilot in his tricked out xwing plus another pilot aiding me.
I checked my journal several times, it always said escort, and the ship had the White box on it.
I did notice something however. I was rushing through the previous mission, with the blacksun freighter, and I forgot to Disable it. The entire time, the waypoint continued to update itself. When I did the mission correctly, the waypoint disappeared for the remainder of the mission.
In this one, even though the ship turns white and the mission says escort, the waypoint keeps updating. So it does seem to be a matter that something is either Unmentioned, or bugged.
