I often try turning battles with A-Wings, but if I'm annoyed enough (and i know I've plastered the forward shields already), I'll joust them.

I thought there was no sound in space.

Heh, I hate these things. Y-Wings aren't so bad, but B-Wings are so slow it's absurd. I swear even the tier 5s cruise around at 400 speed or so.
The thing I like to do is slow down on the opening pass and see if I can take them down or at least damage their systems. That doesn't work too great in low-firepower Imperial ships, though, so I usually have to end up making a wide loop (keeping my eyes out for better targets in the meantime), then come back on their tails from a good distance out, like 300-400m. Then I'll drop my speed to just a bit faster than they're going and slowly close distance as I'm blasting away. The combination of keeping some distance while maintaining a modest speed lets you keep up with any turns they make, and if you're tossing lasers at them the entire time, they should be dead before you get too close and have to slow down to the point where they can outturn you.

Only thing about Bwings is in ds they are so slow you offen zip right past a group of them, and they ALL missle you at once. Pop!

Its kinda bothering me that I have trouble killing these things in a decent amount since I have no problem removing groups of awings or xwings of my tier (3) but its the slow moving y-wings (and b-wings actually) that take me the longest to disable/destroy. In my tie Intercepter I have alot of fun rolling up behind x-wings and the faster A-wings and trying on their rear while I disable them. But the slower moving ships (Y-wings/B-wings) I can't handle, i get behind them and before I can do any dmg i either get to close or I have to slow down to a point that I can't turn with them. How is such a slow ship able to turn on a dime like that?
Any advice on how to removing the mission throwers quickly from the field would be very helpful.
I hate B-Wings. Hate them with a passion I hate them. Y's not so bad because they seem to go down much faster. But B's....I hate them. Anyway I have 2 methods for dealing with them.
Method #1 is used anywhere outside of Deep Space. I just keep tapping my Match Speed key, hang back a bit and light them up. Luckily I have an 80+ PYR engine and I always run EO4 so slowing down doesn't hurt me too bad.
Method #2 is used for Deep Space. When fighting NPCs I stay at full throttle 100% of the time. I like the feel of it and it lets me zip in and out of those swarms and be ready to make a quick dive in case a player decides to jump in. For B's and Y's at that speed it is more about Air Show flying than anything elses. I can stay close to them and keep them in my target window through a series of showboating loops and rolls and slides.
I don't use missiles outside of PVP but I'm sure they would come in handy for those slow moving bastards.

You are correct, with no gasses to compress other than thoses created when the ship goes up there is no concussion wave to make the sound. The gasses that do ecape the explosion and the various ship parts can make a sound when bouncing off your hull though.
P.S.
In space mach speed (around 700 MPH give or take due to altitude and air pressure) is blue haired, oldmobile driving, granny can't see over the dashonthe interstate SLOW.
If we can ever get another shuttle off the ground it doesmore than17,000 MPH in orbit. (Unless I'm wrong thats about 27200 KPH for our friends across the pond(according to onlineconversion.com)

No, you're right, it's 1.6 km to the mile (10 km to 6 miles also sort of works, but is a bit further off). As for that "explosions are louder in space" bit, I think it was from some list of laws of anime physics ... and the list probably had something about how a horribly beweaponed battle fleet can be defeated by a single giddy pop song, too.
