For me, its a matter of wanting that ship for the fact of it being THAT ship. I know imperials that want the ARC-170 for asthetic/rp'ing reasons. I like the Arc-170, I think it had too little screentime.
Now, the grievous ship, its really growing on me, not because of it being uber...
It has dragster pipes!!!!
And thats cool.

I haven't heard anything on that front. I don't really agree with the way the new ships affect balance but are somewhat limited by faction, but if you really want an Eta-2, I'd recommend switching to Imperial for the duration of the quest rather than waiting for a Rebel version to be added.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. Luckily, I'm a smuggler.

Possible alternative way to get the JSF, based on something I did to get my clone armor when the quest was bugged and SOE offering no solutions (I still haven't gotten a set from them).
I traded missions with someone from another server, who didn't play on mine. We each made characters on one another's servers, then we escorted the other along on the clone armor mission (there are a couple points where combat is necessary, and a CL 1 character obviously needed plenty of help). I also transfered 200 faction points to the guy (cost me a great deal more, as I'm low ranked) so he could become a rebel and get me the rebel version of the armor. In the end, we gave the armor to one another -- took about 1/2 hour each, and worked perfectly.
The potential problem with doing this for the JSF mission, having done it with my Imp alt, is that the enemy NPCs are mostly rebels. So in order to attack them, one would need to resign from the Alliance, but I believe neutrals can attack rebel NPCs...? Of course the cross-server friend would need to have 200 Imp FP bought for him, but that wouldn't be too tall an order to fill, with a good smuggler. Still, buying someone 200 FP and briefly resigning from the Alliance, with no personal faction loss, seems like a much cheaper route than converting oneself into an Imp, as some have suggested here.
Of course I haven't tried this -- can anyone see any potential problems with this method? If not, I'm willing to try it with someone on any servers other than Flurry and Bria (you would need to do the quest on Flurry).
