Because it would look stupid to run around Theed wearing your shipboard intercom unit?
As opposed to running around Theed wearing a starfighter helmet or your underwear?Or a Lightsaber...
Or a vibro-axe.

For the record; there is a possibility that all the EP3 ships are going to the Freelancer/Privateer... and not to the Rebels or Imps.
Jedi Fighter is an EP3 ship; Jedi's today wouldn't be flying around in a fighter thats 20 years old, or older... they'd be using the latest and greatest technology most likely.
But anyway, as for the EP3 ships in RoTW being cert'd for Privateer, that is something that was mentioned and discussed in the Smuggler Forum last week.
So if its true, and Jedi's want their 20 year old hunk of junk; they'll be dropping their JTL Rebel/Imp faction status, and work up the Privateer tree to fly one.
But then that makes more sense and in line with how Star Wars is... if there were any Jedi in the GCW, they'd be rogue's and/or in hiding and not alligning themselves with either the Empire or the Alliance.
They didn't start coming back out till after the Empire fell and Luke opened his school for them.

They didn't start coming back out till after the Empire fell and Luke opened his school for them. You have some chat log that backs that statement up? I mean besides what was discussed by the players.
Simple fact that; the individual EP3 ships have not yet been identified with either the Rebel or Imp factions. They are not listed in the catagories which those ships are listed in. They are listed on a seperate page. But then; I never did say I was right. I only said that, it was a possibility.
Uhm, and if you're going to quote canon, *what* Jedi exactly? At the time SWG is set in, Luke is a bit above Padawan, Obi-Wan is a blue glowie, and Yoda is in hiding on Dagobah.
The line about the Jedi in the GCW makes me wonder if you've even watched any of the movies.
Yes; I have... numerous times. I don't recall seeing any Jedi running across the battle field at Hoth, fighting it out with Storm Troopers. I also don't recall seeing any Jedi defending the interior of the Rebel Base at Hoth... And no.. Luke doesn't count there. Technically we wasn't even a padawan then, and if he was, then Obi Wan would have called him one in ANH.
I also don't recall seeing any Jedi StarFighters racing off with the X-Wing Squadrons to fight the Empire at the Battle of Yavin. The Jedi are dead (though obviously not in this game) and their starfigthers have been most likely been acquired by other individuals over the years via some black market... thats only a theory mind you; and again, never said I was right.
The Jedi wouldn't take part for either side? You mean the same Jedi order that was hunted down and killed by the Empire? Yeah, if I was a Jedi in those times I would definitely be thinking "These people want to restore order and justice? Guess I'll sit this one out."
Hmmm.. well, considering that, if I were in their shoes then; twenty years before I watch an unstoppable menace destroy my religon, my friends... everything I lived for. There wasn't a damned thing I could do to stop him.. I would have ended up dead as well.
I would therefore, for those next 20 years be too damned scared to reveal myself as a Jedi, for fear that "he" would personally come after me next.
But of course, we're not playing Star Wars here now are we?
We're playing Sony Jedi Wars...That part of your post makes me doubt there is any truth to your statements about the new ships being all Freelance, since you seem to have only a passing accquaintance with facts and reality. There have also been multiple posts that even though the technology is older, it's not necessarily outdated. The F-14 was brought fully online in 1972, yet it remains the premier interceptor in the world. As Indiana Jones said: "It's not the years it's the mileage." There would be no reason that an older frame couldn't be effective when outfitted with current technology, just as the F-14 has been upgraded with better electronics, engines, and weapons systems. That said, for all the things we want as pilots in the way of content, I would hope the Devs don't give the answer "Well, we know you want content, but that's a ways off. Here's a piece of useless pixels to tide you over until we get around to upgrading the space game."
Frankly; thats precisely what I feel the new expansion is. Just a little more eye candy to placate us so they can keep putting some of the bigger issues off. It's nothing new with SOE, they've been doing it with EQ for 6 years now. Though they seem to be worse at it with EQ then here... at least here they seem to have a grasp on how they want the Professions to work... thats something they haven't figured out yet in EQ, even after 6 years.
My responses to you are in italics.
