Think of strakes and winglets as somebody ricing up their economy car by putting a spoiler or a big muffler in it. Its just for show, doesnt do anything, and people get to laugh

Or as the Chav scene here in the UK would say...

"Ahh proper bo mods kid! Gonna get some proper bostin neons next d*ckhead?"

You won't have any idea what I'm talking about unless you're a Brit or have seeen that new film 'GreenStreet'

X-Wing Side Strakes does not increase mass.

And they don't work on a "Advanced X-Wing", because it is not a "X-wing".

Hmm, as far as i know, those things are purely decorational... and yes, i think it's the tie advanced which can have some, the freelancers can get some for the rihkxyrk.

Actually i think they are a great idea, it would be wonderful to have two or three different possible modifications for each ship in game so you can further customize your ship.

4 different styles with 3 different customisations leaves you with 12 different ways your frame actually looks like. Add the fact that engines and boosters sometimes make the ship look quite different and then still being able to put on textures and colors allow you to make your ship truely be "yours", no carbon copy around each corner. [Of course, this should not be true for tie-fighters. Those are standardised ships of a huge military force, they are supposed to look all alike, unlike the "ragtag" rebel forces who press each ship into service where they can get their hands upon... ]

Kimo gets some winglets too, too bad they don't work on the Krayt cause they look real cool IMO. Hot-rod mining Krayt!

I put side strakes on my Xwing to make it look like the Advanced Xwing that i am unable to get as the quest has been busted since an hour after its launch for me!

They don't do anything... period.... on any ship (I have all of them and have used all of them) there were original designed with that purpose in mind (more mass(xwing) or better efficiency(tie adv) or improved maneuverability (rhik)) but that got trashed.... not sure why.

The strakes reinforce the chassis so that it can take more mass. That's how they explain the Adnvaced X-Wing. If you could remove them, your advanced X-Wingcould only take aroud 99k of mass. Just use your old X-Wing if you don't like them.

This explanation doesn't work for winglets but that's because thatplan about different effects never made it into the game.

Maybe it was a bug, noticed that when I check a friends X-wing that Iloaded them on that it had a stat that said energy efficiency 0.9. Tried with some of the other chassis mods and nothing
