but cloud city would be more of an enclosed environment, at least if i'm picturing it right. IE not real "atomospheric flight" more like a space zone with a cloud city skin.

sadly i cant see them allowing us to fly into the existing planets or they would have to make it so we couldnt engauge ground mobs. Krayt dragons have lots of HP but i doubt they would be a match for my Longprobe. OTOH it would make PVP interesting if you could call in friends in Y-Wings or TIE bombers to hit the enemy player stronghold.

the devs already said they would never do that, it's not techically feasible. a space zone with a "atmosphere" skin is though.

Yeah, I'm guessing that's how they'd do it if they ever decided to but Bespin in... a space zone with an "atmosphere" skin, and could city from the outside would be something like the Avatar Station. The big question though is would we also get a seperate Bespin space zone outside of the "atmosphere" zone? Or would you just drop out of hyperspace already inside the "atmosphere"? Or it might be possible to set up the skin and "nebula" clouds so that the highest part of the "atmosphere" zone looks like space, and that's where all the hyperspace points come in.


One other idea is that Cloud City wouldn't be the only object in the zone that you could dock with. I'm sure a lot of you have seen some of the artwork for other structures that are supposedly in the Bespin atmosphere. Such as these two...

While Cloud City itself would be more of an area that everyone could go to and do stuff, one of these seperate refineries could be more of a high-level combat dungeon. For example, the story could be that some pirates have siezed one of the refineries and are holding the workers hostage, and so Lando gives players missions to try and retake the refinery and rescue the players. Or perhaps one of the refineries has been abandoned, and its been overrun by nomads, rouge droids, and criminals.


Another idea would be for the devs to put in the twin-pod Bespin cloud car as a player controlled vehicle. They could treat it like a space ship, but don't give it a hyperdrive, so it would never be able to leave the Bespin "atmosphere" zone. It would be a fun way for players to travel around the Bespin zone, and it would add more of a Starwars feel.


As for Cloud City itself, with instancing and zoned areas like on Kashyyyk, it would be very possible to do a massive maze of adventure areas that have the feel of being inside a large city. As for quests, they could introduce a new type of cybernetic attachment that goes on a players head and looks like the attachments that Lobot has on. They could also add a few quests and loot options that would allow players to get Tibana gas, which could then be used in new schematics. Heck, the could add some new "space mining" components for ships that would allow you to mine nebulas/clouds, and make sure that the Bespin "atmosphere" zone has several of these nebula/clouds in it from which Tibana gas can be mined.
