Thread: TIE Oppressor in PvP
I have to agree with Yanus above.
I have a 4800s and a 5000s gun in my Opp. 84 turns, it's pretty brutal, but it has no place in high end 1 v 1 PvP. It's an ordinance platform. In a big fight, its job is to hang back from the corkscrew of doom and shower ordinance. 3x Proton 4s gets you about 40 missles. I've never heard of a CM launcher with more than 16.
The Oppressor IS a great ship, certainly the best PvE ship for the Empire. If it's lasting a long time in a 1v1 duel, (given its terrible turn mods), your opponent better be flying a similarly sluggish ship, or perhaps blind, or drinking hot coffee. Maybe playing with only one hand, or on LSD, or suffering from the Bends.
This is not to say that an Oppressor vs a B Wing or another Oppressor isn't a GREAT fight. Funny to watch, to be sure.

opressor doesnt turn that bad once u get used to it ...not as manouverable as eta-2s, awings, interceptors etc.
One way of pulling a sharp turn in it using the oversteer u can generate is this:
ur going at full speed ur about to turn pull back the throttle all the way this accelerates the turn, just as u think the turn is slowing kick the throttle back up to full. If ur not carefull this will result in a complete 360.
Which isnt always a bad thing, butif your using this method to make a smaller turn u might wanna hit the throttle back up a bit quicker or simply pull out of the turn as you do.
I find it much more fun flying something like this, its faster than my other ships aswell.
Because of the extra mass i put in an engine that puts the speed upto 1435 and not many fighters can match that without a booster.
I cant fit a booster atm as it would dissable my chaff when overloading
Umm.
Oppressor is Best PvP ship? Far from.
LucifersBane- If you're getting that speed, I'm guessing it's a player made engine.
If it's a player made engine, it can't turn. Sad but true.

Heh. So someone could argue that the best PvP ship is a Nova, or a B wing?
Sure, opinions are encouraged. So is actually being able to win the duel. Those of us who live in DS know better, believe me.
Tell me about it. I PvP quite regularly in my Nova. I have 15+ kills in it now. I even had 5 in a row one day, so the Nova is a formidable weapon in PvP it's got the option of 3 Mk II Ir's and guns that can fire in different directions, thus covering most aspects of the ship. I love my Nova in PvP mainly due the fact that people are in total shock that someone has the balls to PvP in a POB.
the xwing and the opp are nothing alike. the opp is more like a longprobe with a third missile hardpoint and a smaller hitbox.

Actually the Oppressor andAdv XW isnt that different... Opp oversteers a bit more and have a gun less (an Defense stacked Opp is fearsome indeed, even without missiles)....
