they need to change that...what is the point of being imp and reb pilot if you cant even go combatant.

Maybe this will clear it up. When you talk to the rebel recruiter to leave the alliance, he strips you of rank, faction points, starship combat xp, rebel pilot prestige and all rebel pilot skills.

Or the rebs can stay with their ships and the IMPs with their ships.
And while many say ," I like the ship because it look cool." I see lots of rebs flying the JSF in space. I am am not sure why they allow this. I should would like a heavy X-wing but I can not.

So, what? That's the price you pay for wanting VADER's ship! You have to earn his trust to get it.

Hi, I've been faithfull to the rebellion for the past 2 years. Now I'm here with 200 fp bought from a smuggler. Can I have your old ship?

People defect all the time in SW literature.
To me this boils down to everybody wanting the 'best' ship and being willing to 'betray' their faction to get it. If you're such a loyal Rebel, make due without it. One of the rebel aces on my server has something in his signature that says something to the effect of it being his job to show the JSF pilots who think that the JSF can compinsate for their lack of skill that they're wrong. Cocky, but very admirable.
We Imperial smugglers had a tough choice from the get-go: Smuggler's Alliance (and a YT-1300) vs. the Empire. Some went one way and some went another. Some decided that their chosen path was no good and thus switched.
So, you gotta ask yourself a question, Johnny Reb. Is this ship worth temporarily defecting and re-earning your Rebel wings for? If I was a Reb, the answer would be 'no.' But either answer is respectable. What's not respectable is whining that things are unfair for Rebels. You can still get the bloody uber ship. It just takes more sacrifice to earn.

Is the Grivous ship the one you can buy and not even do the quest to use? Thats nice , if true. The IMPs have had to live with cheap lite weight small gun ships for so long. Where is our med level ship like the x-wing ? Now the Hvy x-wing is the bomb. You notice that the JSF is one of the few IMP ships with 2 Guns. Is that not a hoot. and for us the 90 k frame is the bomb. So it is hard to hit. I hate shooting at A-wings but I am not defecting for one. The hit box means nothing to me ( much) it is the weight and fire power ( not ace yet , still 4444) if I wanted a small hit box I would be using my Royal guard tie fighter ( it is in the bank safty deposit box).
You stick to yours and we will stick to yours. I guess the devs wanted everyone to get a move fighter. What are you going to do? Will they fix it like grande grinding xp convertion change for jedi? only time will tell.
