Well, i think that i didnt get any FP as i am neutral on ground too. I'm currentlybetraying the Rebellion and was hoping that i could get rid of my -5000 Imps fp in space. Look like i'm stucked with the Imperial Mission terminal.

Thats weird KaiRan, I have found that going Overt in space is safer and can pay more faction points than doing ground missions (depending on how focused you are and to some degree - how "tweaked out" your ship is).

Its especially safer since you can actually cycle all targets within 360 degrees and snap right to the Overts when they enter range (or have a macro running which does this for you).

You don't have to worry about some TEF hunter sneaking up on you, and most of all - you don't need buffs.

If you don't want to fight, or are outnumbered in space - you can Hyperspace to safety (provided you spotted the bad guys at range and act immediately).

If the bad guys (assuming they spotted you) intend to follow, then they have to correctly guess which system and hyperspace point you jumped to in order to chase you any further. I think its very unlikely that they will have the motivation to even attempt it. They'll likely consider the fact that they "scarred" you into jumping out almost as goodas had they killed you and carry on with whatever their original reason for being there detailed.

Anyhow, I stumbled upon the faction point gold mine while just grinding pilot - but now I see going into space as a means to earn gobs of faction points, much the way we all used to see Janta/Mokk missions as a quick and easy way to get gobs of cash.

I don't think I make as much money going into space as I did doing Janta/Mokk missions - but as its extra cash I'm getting while grinding Starship XP and faction points...well - I won't complain. Heck, I made 2.5 million creds in four evenings of flying (for about 3-4 hours each time). I used to make about the same amount of creds doing Janata/Mokk missions in one buff session (3 1/2 hours or so).

Anyhow - I'm satisfied that I've found what I consider to be a better way to obtain faction points in particular. I'am curious though - what things we are doing differently which make ground missions work better for you.

Thanks again everyone

Replying "blind" here, but I just pull a duty mission and go voert before running it. ~3k FP in one duty mission v Tier 4...

I find the pay and faster FP to be my main reasons for sticking to the ground when going for FP. The 10-15k on buffs doesnt bother me, I've made that back in my first outing, and PvP death is inconsequential... well, unless you plan on Jedi in your future. Keep in mind, I have TKM and Master Pistols in my template- while not the best combo for this, they certianly offer enough variety in damage types and speed and defenses to take on the mid-level faction missions one gets. Smuggler adds Feign Death, which if combined with a quick armor removal and TKM meditate makes a prolonged grief by a frustrated would-be killer nothing more than a waste of time. Lastly, the "consider" option on the radar makes the players immediately apparent: If it doesnt have a colored ring around it or is a green ring moving in fast, it's a player.

Mind you- I dont think there's anything wrong with thespace fp grind, and it is a particularly quick means of getting to the action, no 1/2 hour prep times here. However, in a cost/pay/loot analysis, I believe I have far better chances of coming out on top on the ground. A rebel could easily see even higher results when taking into consideration the new loot dropped exclusively by Imperial MOBs (paintings).

In the interest of fairness, I have been hitting Kessel fairly hard the last 2 nights, and will try and put an equal amount of time on the ground next weekfor a direct comparison. So far, 2.5 hours seems to still net me about 4k to 5k fp there, and I have only run into a single opposing overt. Starting with 1800 fp, I now have roughly 12k, after an average of 5-6 hours.

We'll seehow the ground experiment pays out, particularly when it comes to armor and weapon decay- in space I can loot armor to replace whatever damaged units I have... this may tip the scales back a bit.

Oh, and for your data, I have been flying a black sun heavy, 3 cannons in the 3k plus damage range, missiles for pesky light fighters, light mass mid 700 armor front and back and a 1700 point shield. The motor is 92.2 speed. Since my one-and-only PvP attack, I have mapped the "find next enemy player" key to one of my joystick buttons- hasnt found any yet. I dont know what else to say- I avoid the light fighters generally and go for the medium and heavy out of time conservation. I hit gunships when it's not too time consuming. Thats about it. Anything different here?

Update: Night one of ground trials already showing promise- 7k fp in 2.5 hrs bouncing back and forth between 2 tightly placed oposing Detachment HQs. No PvP, no problems. Will try a slightly fifferent approachcamping a fast-spawn point.

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!
