Thread: My First JTL Decision : Which Tier I Box?
For Imperial I went for 2111 first 'cause I wanted a ship with higher mass (TIE/In vs.normal TIE Fighter), and for rebel I went 1211 'cause I was ok with the mass on the Y-Wing, and didn't see the sense of getting another Y-Wing (although I didn't know about additional weapon slots, I've actually never flown a Long Probe Y-Wing), and I really wanted to get some higher level components into my Y-Wing.
I haven't done Freelance Pilot (yet), although I am planning for it on one of my Radiant Characters once I finish up the Rebel Pilot squadrons.
Ok, first things first. By the time you can train 1000 you should have enough XP for your first box (7500 XP I think). Now, the important thing here is, the first box does NOT require XP, it is mission based only. So if you finish your missions and are available for training you should be able to train 2 of your tier 1 boxes immediatly.
For Privateer - 1100 Get the Dunlizard, and components, after this, always get components first and then Droid proggies, then fill in the rest. I just did smuggler in about 8 hours (still need to cap a vette) and used nothing but the Dunelizard. It is probably the best all round fighter in Freelancer.
For Imp - 1100 Get new ship and gear. After that I recoment always doing chassis first, and then droid programs as these can REALL help compensate for Mass issues when Imp, then get equip, then tactics. At tier 4, I recomend chassis, then tactics, then comp, then droid. The additional bstrike is really handy in tier 4 missions
