Thanks guys you're stars!

i typically run at around 50% throttle for fighters and 25% for heavier ships and normally they turn pretty nicely but running the TA at 50% it wasnt so ncie. i'll set a key up for 75 and 80% tonight and experiment to find the sweet spot.

Ideally i want to keep the lvl 7 re'd guns in the ship as i spent alot of hours finding the parts to make them what they are. Though they do refire a lil slow and one flashs like a strobe casuing me to blink a little to much the first time i take it up for the evening

ideally i'd love to keep the DI as the one i'd swap it out for is a 858 mass 20.1 speed one :/ not so good for shunting if i get into a tight spot.

So tonight I'll look into a lvl 6 RE'd shield or level 5 crafted one and see if that does the job.

Dropping my booster wont make to huge a difference as its only about 1.6k mass though i admit i could live without it if i needed to drop it. if i get in trouble i prefer to fight my way out anyway.

If push comes to shove though I'll just have to drop down to 1 or 2 lvl 6 crafted or RE'd guns.

That was my assumption, otherwise i would have recommended a different weapon configuration, different reactor, different engine

One option to try is to get a custom Mark IV shield made. A standard Mark IV shield is 16.7k mass, 1930k f/b shields. A shipwright can make one that is 14k mass 1800 f/b shields. Tell them to put 8 points into mass, 1 into front, and 1 into back.

What's the mass on your booster? If you must have a booster, chances are good you can get a crafted one that is lighter and meets your need for speed. A Mark I booster can get as light as 540 mass with 17 speed for 11 seconds.

the boosters 1.36k mass and is 23ish top speed.

i picked up a 10.5k re'd lvl 6 shield with 1500 front and back that seems to be ok so far. i am going to attempt to find the parts to better it over the weekend but i expect 1600 ish is the most i'll squeeze f/b short of some very good parts lying around somewhere

I've re'd a lvl 6 shield to 1670 f/b and 10.03 recharge and 10k ish mass. and re'd my new imperial lvl 7 reward gun which leaves me with about 4-5k mass spare with everything i want in the ship.

however a SW i deal with now has 1000 min 1500 max 2.6 refire 5k mass lvl 5 blasters on his vendor :/ so do i switch to those and put in a better shield (lvl 8 reward 2550 f/b) or do i stick with what i have?

which is likely to perform better in pve ?

Yeah, I'd probably downgrade the boosters, too. In PvE, with a good engine you don't need 'em too much. Except for when strafing POBs. But juking and a good engine will make up for that I'd think.
