Is it possible to just raise the xp and train and skip the missions?

There's a workaround for this. Actually,one and a half workarounds.

1) Wait for the Imperials to jump you in the Lok system. Then jump to Dathomir. They won't bug you again.

1.5) Let them jump you in Dath, but hyperspace within the system once you arrive. It should buy you enough time to get into the next phase of the mission without Imperial interference.
