Thread: Engine OverLoad 4?

Awsome, thanks man. Just out of curiosity how much faster does the Engine Overload 4 get you. I cannot afford a big reactor because I am building a race ship out of an A-wing with 65k mass(pretty low), so I am going towards a good base speed with a fast engine and Engine Overload 3. My engine is 102.5 speed, my boosters are 40.5 speed with an accelleration of 50.7, and I was thinking of putting in a larger engine with at least 125 speed. Should I scrap getting a larger engine and get a tougher reactor for Engine Overload 4? Is Engine Overload 4 a good speed to mass ratio when it comes down to it?

I run EO4 on my B-wing, took me a long, long time to balance the systems out on that puppy as she is just about all guns. Only way I could get it to go was through using a low energy consuming engine, even then I would still bottom out 2 of 4 guns.


For perspective, I was roughly 15400/15990 on energy. Even with RO4 the moment I hit EO4 I was shut down, this was with a 2400 use engine. Dropping that down to a 2000 use engine is when I would only bottom out on two of my guns, yet this was also with a cap and weapon overload. Long story short, my flight commander hooked me up with a 24K low mass reactor and I'm golden.


So, that extra 400 energy piles up big when EO4 is triggered. Remeber that EO is jacking up just your engines energy use, the higher it is the more that multiplier is gonna hit you. Given that it's crafted I can only guess that everything went into max speed and thats why you are going red when overcharged. Does it mean that EO4 with a tuned engine will beat EO3 on a juiced engine...I have no freekin clue.


For a race craft I suggest tweeking it untill you get it to work. See if you can't get some of the energy use shaved off that engine, make sure you are running RO4 and do all you can to get low consumption from your other components.
