I have no interest in PVP. I have never PVPed in my life, and I never intend to. I *only* do PVE.
If it's no good in PVE, that's fine. I can get rid of it.

Wow this was such a helpful set of responses, basically boiling down to "Your ship isn't set up right, noob. Go read the FAQ." Funny, this is the first time I have ever asked for any help on ANY profession board and been flamed for asking.
I'll go back to the TKA and other forums now where people are actually helpful and polite.

IMHO, the A-Wing is superior for ALL roles than any other pre-ROTW rebel certified ship.
Why?
It's fast.
It's small.
It's maneuverable.
I know there are pilots that solo the corvette in X-Wings, I've seen it done. I, however, seriously doubt I will ever attempt it without a very nice RE-lvl 10 engine and three equally nice RE guns, RE shield, etc.
For me, It's not about how many hits I can take in an A-wing, it's about how many hits I can AVOID. The A-wing is not a POWER ship, if bypower you think firepower, anyway. Your A-wing may not be just too much faster than your X-wing (get overloads, btw) , but it is more maneuverable nearer it's top speed than your x-wing, I guarantee it.

With that said, the reason you are being flamed is because you ignored ready-made information that is "ready-made" for a purpose, so people don't post "help me!" threads.

I'm rather fond of Y-wings, myself. B-wings are also pretty good. And you really can't go wrong with a Nova.

Hi CHessak,
You have been flamed by some of this boards trogladytes, sry about that![]()
The A-wing was the premier dogfighter, but it has been sadly eclipsed by the new ROTW ships.
Most of the loot has been nerfed and you will have little chance of getting a decent setup on the A-wing now.
Bottom line;
Get a JSF or Bell-22.

>>You have been flamed by some of this boards trogladytes,
Nah, not really. At least not by me. Some of the "trogladytes" here have made pilot their primary profession, learning all there is to learn about it. You may not always like what they ahve to say, but they are storehouses of JTL knowledge.. and For some people, putting "A wing" and "suck" in the same sentence is tantamount to sacrolige. People still swear by them.
>>The A-wing was the premier dogfighter, but it has been sadly eclipsed by the new ROTW ships.
It still is a damn good fighter, and still quite viable. However, ALL SHIPS (not just he A wing) have been eclipsed by the ROTW ships. We can all thank sony for introudcing the "space composite". /golf clap
>>Most of the loot has been nerfed and you will have little chance of getting a decent setup on the A-wing now
Simply put, this is incorrect, or at the least, i adamantly disagree. Espeically if this discrediting is centered around the ships mass. I can build a 65K mass Tie advanced from relativly new parts that could outkill pilots JSF's in a PvE enviorment.

Rapax puts together a pretty damn good TIE Advanced, even when he only touches one part of the ship.

You know, it's funny that people who clearly did not read my entire post but just the title of it, turn around and tell me to read stuff in more thorough detail. If you notice, I specifically said I just cracked tier 4 which means, I am a 4-3-3-3 pilot. How useful do you think it is when people's response to me is to tell me to get a level 9 or 10 engine or other equipment given that, as they should know if they are veterans as you say, I can't install them on my ship yet?
As for my lack of looking at things, I read the FAQ -- I've read it twice now. I really didn't see much about A-wings specifically or whether they were supposed to be only a tiny bit faster than an X-wing without an overload. But even if there was a lot there and I was being lazy, there is no reason people had to be rude or flame. How long does it take to post the clicky to the correct thread?
I have never seen anyone ask a question on any other prof board -- not even when the AFK macroers come to the Dancer forum and ask for a looping AFK macro -- and be flamed to this level just for asking a simple question. Every week, hell almost every DAY, someone posts on the TKA forum about Advanced Combo "not doing as much damage" as the weaker TKA attacks, and every DAY, we simply explain that it's an error with the combat spam, and it's a perfectly good attack. Nobody ever got flamed for it, even though the question is posed every day and stickied.
There really is no reason to be nasty to people who are just asking questions -- particularly when this forum is notorious for having a crappy/non-functinal search engine.
