Also, as you are master, if you only arm your mining ship with mining weapons, you lower your capabilities and make the encounter more challenging when you get jumped by pirates. A second option is to go overt with the same loadout. Occasionally, when I have had no target selected, the chunk will become my target once I hit it with the tractor. But I have to agree, maybe make the chunks a different color on the radar, or have a different color box around them would help immensely. Also, if the large chunk breaks into more than five smaller chunks, it's hard to get them all. The last one always seems to disappear as I get within tractor range.
