I also noticed while trying to mine ore for the Y-8 quest .That the asteroids occasionally will not break off pieces to collect in my cargo hold;I shot one for 10 to 15 minutes and nothing? As I also seemed to cloak in and out of exisitence along with the entire asteroid field.

We have that problem too, all 5 players in my group.
So I think all players have that problem
So I think all players have that problem

Anyone else ever have spots where everything in space just disapears? I still have target boxes and can destroy stuff but blaster effects, ships, stations, asteroids... everything.. just vanishes.
Actaully, yea. Just started to happen to me in only the Kashyyyk system. Thought it might be my grphics drivers. I have an NVidia 6800 GT. You have nvidia?? I noticed a few graphics bugs in ToOW Beta that were exclusive to the Nvidia 6+ series cards.
Not just the 6+ series but the 7+ series also, I have dual 7800 GTXs

Keep posting your experiences with these graphics bugs. Anything you think may be relevant could help. I've reported the general issue, but being able to pin down some common causes should help speed up the fix.

TomoRainer,
Can you float this thread (orone of your choosing)so everyone has a specific focus thread for the current graphics bug. I was testing it extensively yesterday with a buddy of mine on Intrepid (it just so happened that we were doing about a dozen different things on different ships). This information was repeatable on two different computers running different configs.
Here is a quick overview of what we experienced (graphical issues):
- No graphics show through on POB ships. Yachts, Y-8, Nova Courier, and Decimator windows all come through as opaque (black). A discussion came up recently on the housing forums why houses can't have one-way windows to see outside. In space, there are fewer objects to process than on the ground, and it allows the artists and programmers to designs a system where show through to the outside environment is possible. However, currently when flying, there is now show through in certain situation. When in first person pilotingin the Y-8, there is no show through. When walking around in the interiors of multiple POB ships, there is no show through.
- Random disappearance of inside POB graphics. When inside the POB ship (walking around the interior, using elevators, ect), the interior completely disappears from theview of the users. The objects are still present, but the information is not being displayed correctly in a graphical format that can be recognized by the remote system.
- Third person graphical irregularity. When piloting a POB ship or a regular starfighter, the entire environment ceases to register graphically on the remote system. This is very hit and miss, as I was testing it in a couple of different classes of ships doing different missions: mining, escort, fighting. The graphics would cut out in various spots- I think they were space "zones" (server zones, not POIs or regions). I would launch into space from, say, Kashyyyk, and there would be a bunch of red, blue, yellow, and white brackets zooming around. These objects were present, but the environment appeared black to me. I could engage these objects (bump into the space station, mine, etc...), but I couldn't see them. I'd fly around blind like this for awhile when suddenly the graphics would come back. For example, I woulduse the ' (apostrophe) key to select an asteroid when I had blanked out graphics problem.Iwould flytowards the asteroid, and upon reaching it bump into it. The asteroid was there, and I could even mind the pieices (they still showed up on radar). I would then travel to a different asteroid, but this time the environment would go back to normal and I could see all of the objects. I would hyperspace to another system, and the environment would go back to black about half the time. It didn't matter which system I went to, the graphics blackout was seemingly random.
Here are two non-graphics related bugs we came across:
- Inability to set waypoints or activate waypoints. I was creating waypoints with no problems, but I repeatedly received the message along the lines that "the waypoint you are trying to activate exists in another system". This occured for waypoints I was creating and for pre-existing POIs (all classes - asteroids, stations, nebulae, hyperspace nodes).
- Random indestructible asteroids. My friend and I were mining in about 7 different systems, and we both found the occasional bugged asteroid (we didn't try to mine the same asteroid at the same time - not sure if it would have been bugged for one and not both). We were using class 1 and 2 mining lasers to attack the big asteroids. Also, the out of bounds indestructible asteroids issue is still in effect, but I found I could bypass this problem by tractoring the asteroids to my ship.
My friend and I just happened to be doing different sections of the Y-8 quest when all of these issues were going on. We both completed the quest successfully without too much trouble. That's a great quest for troubleshooting because we had to do so many different types of space flight.
The ships were were using: B-wing, JSF, Advanced X-wing, ARC-170, A-wing, Y-8, Yacht (SoroSuub Luxury), Decimator, Nova Courier.
I hope this information helps someone track down some of the issues going on in space right now.
Cheers,
Spir4

I tried some stuff yesterday. Apparently, when you launch from a starship terminal, you don't have the bug.
But when you hyperjump, there is chance the bug falls in. If that happens, I just land and launch again, and there goes the bug...
A friend of mine has tried flying to the borders of the system (when one of your 3 waypoints reaches 8000), and said that the bug disappeared too when you do this.
Let me know if any of those things work with you fokes
