I'm glad the argument about that line and how the parsec is a distance measurement has been settled.
Sort of. The way I understand it, the Kessel Run is a standard route, with a set distance. He still travelled the same distance in relative space. By using the Falcon's powerful drive and stealing some acceleration from the nearby black holes Han was able to reach a high fraction of the speed of light, causing the "distance" Han traveled to seem shorter to the intruments in the Falcon.
They've been round and round about this a couple hundred times since that line was first spoken. What it really comes down to is George flubbed his jargon and the writers since then have covered his backside.
It is Kessel I reckon since it is the KESSEL system.
Coruscant?! Thats a Core world...Kessel is Outerrim'ish. The Master pilot trainer kind of emphathhises this..you know the whole bit about the Rebels/Imperials struggling for control in the outerrim...
But yeh..another thing...It probably is Kessel but it's the wrong shape. Kessel is actually supposed to be more 'potato' shape according to canon but heh...since when did his game follow canon?

Yeah, I'll buy that too, but it does make for a pretty good cover story for George.

Maybe Kessel is in the Inner part of the Outer Rim, and the Maw is in the Outer portion of the Deep Core?
If I remember my layout right from the SWCCG (now THERE is a definitive source of information, right?), Kessel is about as far out as you can go. Tatooine, which is supposed to be "the boonies" for people in the Core, is at Hyperspace 7. Kessel is at 9. Coruscant is supposed to be at 0, for reference.

Located in the Outer Rim, Kessel was administered by Moruth Doole who ran a prison work camp to harvest Glitterstim.
Yes, I quoted myself. The OUTER Rim. Just in case you guys didn't catch that.

This concurs with my info from the SW-RPG RCR by WotC. Kessel is in the Maw Cluster. Which is "galactic south-east" of the core worlds.
Yeah, but, uhmmmmm... this is a game. ![]()
How do you propose simulating the "Kessel Run" for pilots to compete at and try then?
Simply from Point A to Point B? Then everybody would just fly in a direct straight line. ![]()
AndI understand that the spun explanation is that he did it in the shortest DISTANCE. Obviously, an in-game simulation of the feat is not going to be 100% accurate to the story, but is anything in this game? ![]()

Mmm, we should be able to do that kessel run.

What if there WAS a kessel run? Like the ground race tracks?
Oh man, I gotta think about this some more.
I've been thinking about trying this for a long time now. Really, the only thing stopping me is a solid way of verifying that racers actually touched every waypoint along the way. And the only way I could figure out how to do that would be to place "referees" at each waypoint.
