A level 10 blaster in an A-wing, now that is an interesting challenge... Would you mind putting up your mass numbers? Are you sure you're using a Mark V shield? That must weigh 35-40k by itself. If you can fit that on, an REd L8 reward shield weighs less and has better shield energy.

Here's the actual #'s for ya:
A-wing mass: 66,039
lvl 10 re'd blaster - Mass 43,188; dmg 3022-4664, shileds/armor .82/.81,energy per shot 32.6,fire rate .37andenergy drain of 1832.
lvl 1 re'd DI - Mass 516, Speed 14.7anddrain of 516
lvl 1 reactor - Mass 1,079,energy 10,344.
lvl 2 re'd cap - Mass 3452,energy of 958andrehcarge of 37.1
lvl 5 shield - Mass 6454, Energy 3376, front and back 1161, recharge of 9.04
lvl 6 re'd engine Mass 9219, Energy drain 1515, spd 82.2, y/p/r - 72/71/71
lvl 2 re'd armor - Mass 989, fron/back 213
of course the big trade off for having the level 10Blaster as opposed to lvl 8 is having to drop from a level 7 shield to a level 5. But so far I haven't had any issues with that.

Hmmm... the problem i see with this is that you don't have a CM launcher and also wont be able to survive a single image rec II missile either.
On the other hand you might be able to take out heavy ships faster with these anyways.
Interesting way to go

Very interesting. I have to go through my bag of L10 blasters to see if I have one that weighs close to 40k. My REd L6 engine weighs 8500 (or so) mass. You can also make reactor with limiter that weighs 800 mass that puts out 10k energy. With a lighter reactor, engine and armor (or no armor), you'd be able to squeeze in a chaff launcher. However, I don't think a chaff launcher has a good chance of stopping an Image-Rec. Just don't let them get a lock on you.
Maybe a light Mark 1 booster would be more useful.

Hmmm... not letting anyone get a lock on you is quite unrealistic unfortunately
Most pilots that i fight against simply hold their missile launch button which results in a volley as soon as it locks. And Image Rec 2 launchers lock easily.
Your best bet would be to keep your distance and take the volley at long distance, then launch enough css, depeinding on the opponent you face. This buys you between 5 and 6 seconds before they can fire again for you to close in and outmaneuver them.
If you have any other ideas please let me know... but from my experience missiles are extremely hard to avoid.
