Thread: Missiles in PvP

As was already said about 5-6k mass on a IR2 launcher.
Spacebombs in PvP? good luck, if your enemy is not afk or you catch him unaware you'll most likely not get a lock - and then a bomb is a waste of money
IR2 have a lockon time of about 1 second, Spacebombs of 3 or 4 seconds, Mark III Protons about 2 seconds. Ever been in a turning match with an Awing (or Interceptro, or JSF nowadays)?
Its already damn hard to get a lock with IR2s there. and you still need luck to actually hit once you get the lock.
I tried Mark III Protons once, was not too happy with them. yes they have more missiles per stack, and do about the same damage, but that extra second locktime makes it incredibly difficult to lock it on.
I don't wnat to imagine to try and get a lock for spacebombs, and if i got, the bombs are so slow and turn like crap, that the enemy has to fly headon into the bomb so it hits
I haven't used them often, but if I recall correctly the mass is similar to a MK III proton launcher, with similar (perhaps a bit higher) damage payload. You won't be assured of a kill, but targetting engines, it's highly likely you'll either blow them completely or severely cripple them.
Compare the low lock time vs a space bomb launcher, and it's far easier to get a lock. And honestly I'm surprised you're able to get a lock on a fighter that's maneuvering defensively. Against someone who really knows how to jink and dodge, it's damned difficult to lock even with a MK III proton.

If you want to group weapons, hit the G key and it will bring up a menue for grouping assignments. You may have to remap your primary fire key from "fire and cycle next group" to "fire current weapon group"
I know how to group weapons manually, I'm wondering if there is a way to set a macro so I can do it without the window. My guess is no.So Img Recs hold more per pack than bombs, lock faster, and are harder to avoid. All good reasons for using them. Now what about the other things: What is the average mass of an img rec II (the pre-nerf bomb launchere I have is 5-6k mass)? why not use your freakin blasters

The only time I tried to use my bombs was in a turning battle with an A-Wing. It wasn't easy, but I got a lock and one missile destroyed it. Maybe it helped that I was close?
Is it that much easier with img recs that I should go with them evenif I only have one launcher? Won't my opponent just shield shunt and my missile have been wasted?

Worst Combination Ever:
1 TIE/Op
3 Image Rec II
Liberal use of /launchm
I'd never do that to anyone unless I was REALLY good friends with them.
Hehe Starscream. Gveedo has done it to me a few times. Made me go through a pack of CM's in about a 2 hour period. really frustrating because you dont' know if it's a real missle or a fake missle, so you have to plan accordingly. from my understanding, he has the command on a macro and just hits a button.
lol that's not cool. Sounds like Gveedo though, good thing he's on my side
