Thread: Found a Belbullab-22 pretty cheap, but is it worth it if I already have an ARC-170?

Didn't know about that either. Man, this thread has really saved me some hassle.

Idolatry, I'm not a huge fan of having to do that either, would much prefer to be "in the cockpit" but I just can't stand not having any vision to the sides. As an Imperial Pilot the only transparent part of my cockpit is a small circle in the front. I tend to make liberal use of a hat switch to keep an eye on my surroundings, but without using Ctrl+Shift+F2 I just see the cockpit wall. To switch to 3rd person means moving hands from throttle/keyboard to mouse wheel.

Makes you realise just how horrid a design the TIE actually is.

I like the cockpit view for roleplaying's sake. But this view'll have to do for the Belbullab...

And explains why the X-Wing to TIE Fighter kill ratio is so bad

I play in 3rd-person in space for the same reason I play in 3rd-person on the ground; I just love looking at my bad self

I would probably fly in third person a lot more if I wasn't so terrible at aiming without first person view...

I have the same problem, but in the opposite direction. Because of the chase cam, turns and maneuvers are much smoother in 3rd-person. It all feels too jerky in 1st.

Ah, but as Corran Horn found out, because of the ball shaped cockpit the pilot has a lot of leg-room compared to an X-wing. In a TIE Fighter you go to oblivion in a ball of flames, but at least you don't have cramp in your legs when you do.

Why not fly in 1st person, but with the cockpit frame off in the options - I know it feels a little detached, but surely less detached than flying along behind your ship.
