Thread: Does your choice of ship chassis reflect you as a pilot?

It absolutely does.

I fly my JSF almost exclusively. I use the ARC sometimes when I'm trying to help my friends grind out xp and as soon as I get master freelance again, I'll be using the YT, but my baby is my JSF. I love that little ship. It is the epitome of fast and dangerous and that's how I like my ships.

People in my old guild laughed at me and my little 90k mass ship. Until I started helping them in space missions and flew circles around them, even getting 90% of the kills before they finished the one they were working on.

Furthermore, I think the way you OUTFIT your ship is a reflection of your style. My JSF has moderate shields and the prototype armor from the n00b ship. Basically, my ship is an engine with guns..and some armor and shields as an afterthought.

Nope. I think getting into a starship is like getting into a car.

Example:

Not in car: My girlfriend is the absolute sweetest person I know. Always curtious, appologizes for everything, never swears.

In car: Impatient, easily aggitated, speeds, swears and is generally scary.

Not that she's a bad driver (she's very good and doesn't drive like an old lady), but there is quite the personalitly change when she gets behind the wheel. If she were ever to get interested in playing JTL, I bet she would be a pilot to be reconed with!

My primary ship is my decimator, i use it for almost everything. I love the demage dealing abilities, and the power to survive the lasers and missiles of ten bwings

And my second most used ship is my tie advanced... I dont know.. Fast?

id say more than anything it reflects your flight style. Some people prefer small agile ships, capable of outmaneuvering anything but with very little firepower, some people like to use the heavier fighters, with a good mix of speed and mass, and then you got people like me who like to use the M22 Krayt, which is just plain one big motherlover. my line of thinking is why do i need to have a fast agile little ship that takes bb-shots at the bigger ones, when ive got my heavily protected beast that can kill just about anything tier3 or below in a single salvo. I guess im not really a great linguist, but im tryin to say, the ship you chose shows how you like to fly.

I guess I like the small and agile ships more than the "tanks": I use my advanced X exclusively for mining these days. I used to fly the B-22, but for style reasons, I switched to the heavy Z-95. It is so darn fast and doesn't look like a 50's car! Ok, the weapon spread is big, but it makes me aim more carefully. And it is still hard to hit (tho not as hard as the B-22 or JSF) so for PvE it's a blast. I don't use armour, as I hardly get hit.

Next to the above, I am in love with my Nova, which I use for fun, group transportsand occasional grinding help.

On my wish list I still have the desire to outfit a Y-wing LP (never touched after pilot 3xxx) to a really cool ship. I hated the B-wing and loved the A-wing, but as I am lazy by nature, I find the low mass on the A-wing to much.

I try to fly as many different ship types as I can. I'm currently trying to build up most of the Alliance ships to be PvP worthy. It's a long process though. My A-wing, Y-wing Longprobe, and B-wing are farthest along. I have a heavy X-wing but I'm getting tired of it. My B-wing has greater fire power and like all the ROTW ships the heavy X is just overpowered. I think it would be more fun to loadout a standard X-wing again.

I'll say yes, but add that choice of loadouts and ship names can also reflect you. My preference is for fast, agile fighters. I fly a TIE Advanced (with the wing strakes because they look sex-say) and pull out my JSF when I run into a mission that simply requires more firepower than I can cram into 65k mass. Both ships are loaded out roughly the same though: Big engine, big guns, big shield, average booster, no armor. The way I see it, the 4-5k mass that I could use for toilet-tissue grade armor is probably better used on something more useful, like a countermeasure launcher, missile rack, or a more powerful engine, blaster, or shield. Basically I'd rather avoid damage than plan to absorb a few hits as the price for combat.

As an aside, fast and agile is also my real-life approach to cars and aircraft. Some people want a big truck or SUV so that they've got lots of crumple room if they get in a crash. Me, I'd rather have a Porche, Lotus, or even a Mazda Miata. Speed, acceleration, and handling will get you out of more trouble than being well protected when you do blunder into trouble, I figure.

Also, if I know I'm not going to be in combat, I fly my Deci, the Miss-Directed Funds. The name isn't really an RL reference, but it's certainly appropriate for her pilot, flipping off the Imperial beaurocracy with both lekku while flying some of the Empire's best hardware.

I would say my ship reflects me on the ground game

Commando on ground with no healing, pure damage and punching power.

Firespray in space with dual RE LvL 10s that each can 1 hit kill any player ship
Also a 90 speed 80 p/r/y engine in there

Also I use a Y-8 fully decked out.

So yeah, pritty accurate to me on ground game. However totaly opposit from me in real life.

Real life I would be in a stealth ship camping hyperspace points and sniping any one who comes in with missles. On ground I would be a sniper on top of a building across from the starport entrance.

So, what eva

I have 2 ships that I fly mostly.

For the most part, I have the advanced X-Wing that I borrowed from a guildmate (my quest is bugged), and I have my X-Wing.

I use them both quite a bit. I just revamped and put a new engine in my advanced, so the YPR on it is now all above 81.
