I actually like mining with my JSF.Two Mark III Mining Lasers is sufficient to dispatch even tier 5 bandits (and when things become a little too overwealming, I call in a Bomber Strike, which keeps them busy while I finish loading up my cargo hold). The great advantage of the JSF is the sheer speed and maneuverability, allowing me to collect all the chunks in an efficient and timely manner.

I run a B-wing with 4 class 3 lasers.. Its a monster I break off three large chunks in 1 shot then break them and collect half the smaller chunks in 1 shot my only problem in having to run unload my bay every 10 mins and that the ship is a tank I usually wont chase any chunks much past 1k from the asteroid...

It does limit me to one mark III laser and two mark II's rather than 3 mark III's but it is not bad. Sometimes I use a tractor beam instead of one of the lasers. As my pilot gets better I'll try the others.
