*EDIT*

Changed my mind about how much I wanted to reveal...though, suffice to say, if you go back and re-read the story so far, you can probably speculate fairly closely about Hal.

More? More you say? Read on...

"Hope this works," Halyn muttered through clenched teeth.

"What?" A'Lerris asked.

"Nothing."

The Headhunters continued to descend rapidly. The steep angle of decline limited the effectiveness of the snubfighters' repulsorlifts, further crippling A'Lerris's unresponsive Z-95. And that's what I have to change. Praying the maneuver wouldn't be in vain, Halyn inverted his Headhunter and slid under the belly of the security chief's ship.

"What are you doing, Nine?" she asked. "Don't get yourself killed. Get out of here." Her voice was resigned.

"Like hell. Hang on." Eyes wide and hands clamped tightly on the stick, he pushed the stick forward, shoving is fighter up against A'Lerris's. The fighter bucked, but Halyn clung to the controls like a wrestler, shoving the other fighter up, leveling out the descent. "We're going to make it," he hissed. "Stay with me, A'Lerris, don't give up yet! Hang on!"

Halyn's snubfighter was screaming in protest, but he kept up the contact, swearing under his breath in a dozen languages. In one final gesture, he fired all his repulsorlifts, shoving A'Lerris's fighter up a bit morebut sending his own plummeting towards the ground. The Zabrak calmly rolled the snubfighter and leveled out, eyes orienting on the other ship.

"I'm going down," A'Lerris said, voice still icly calm. "I think I can survive this."

The Zabrak accelerated after the other ship, but his desperate maneuvers had taken their toll. His engines' fevered pitch climbed even higher and a bank of red lights lit up his console like an Empire Day festival on Coruscant. Blew coolant lines, some collateral damage to computer systems. Engines are burning out. The ground began to rise towards him. Hopefully I'll survive this.

He saw A'Lerris's fighter hit while he was still a couple hundred meters off the sand. The Headhunter skipped off the sand several times like a stone, then hit and skidded across the ground, bouncing off two bolders and coming to rest on top of a pile of rocks.

Then his own Headhunter hit the ground, and the pilot saw only black.

Sorry Hal but I don't buy it. She goes from 'Leave me to die Halyn' to 'Oh..so I'm alive..lets get all hostile now'

Not trying to sound rude or contrary but I just don't think it fits. The change was too sudden. It's a great story but with that part I'm sensing hasty typing and posting. Unless of course this will be explained later. I mean, surely if she were so angry with him and it had clicked already, she'd -try- nd take him down with her. The aspect that Halyn might be there as a saboteur of some kind is ridiculous too. He simply has risked his life too much for the whole operation so far so having her change on him like that either means 1. She is seriously wierd in the head or 2. She is -seriously- wierd in the head and in no way fit as a mining outpost's security cheif.

Julak, I've known vaguely what Halyn's rough history is from spamming him over msn and so as a mark of respect I won't ruin his story. I just don't think that last post held together very well though and I have a whole bunch of angry villagers with pitch forks and BBQ sauce who agree.

Without sounding too sexist... she is a woman. It is very easy to believe that she switched extemes like that. She is probably more mad at herself because she kinda likes him and felt betrayed but the crashing just set it off. Who knows how the female mind works.

Good point. Still though...I don't think the villagers agree...but afterall, most of them are women.
