Thread: Cross Server PvP Event

How many people would be interested in doing a cross server PvP event?

Here is my basic idea:

We have all the pilots make new characters on some server and we all grab the starter ships (the free ones with all the equipment already in them). Then we go declare, and have a battle somewhere. Simple as that.

Everyone from every server can participate and we'd all be flying ships with the exact same stats, so it would be a true test of pilot skill.

The part that I'm getting stuck on here is finding a way for the pilots of the host server to get the starter ships. I can't seem to figure out a way to do this withou dropping your squad. The other option would to be to make an antry list and pick whatever server nobody signs up from.

Comments or suggestions?

It woudl be fun to have a big noob ship PvP fest, I'll prod around the Chilly forums and see if we'd be interested in hosting a big fling liek this...but then I'd have to drop ace, or bum a noob ship off of someone

we tried exactly that on Bria only with heavy starter ships using limited engines and like crafted gear. Was quite pricey. As for ^ this idea, it sounds good but it'd be so slow... 390 is not really a speed which I consider testing your reflexes to the max and a lot of elements of pvp would be eliminated for instance...ordnance would be out of the question, as I said, it'd be slow and you wouldn't be able to get the full potential out of your skills with manouvering because you'd be hard pressed to make a starter ship hit it's AoA limiter..I don't even think its possible to make that happen.

Regardless of this though...sure I'll come .

that is why he said everyone use a newbee pilots. so they can test your flying skills. everyone will be the same and only your flying style will count. no one sneeking in any unfair part on their ship. it will not take long. everyone has cheap starting ships.

We will see how many people remember how to fly basic ship vs the spin on a dime or missile boats. LOL

Sounds way fun. should see if SOE will help you.

I think the best way to do this would be to do a little server board surfing and get a feel for a server with a pretty dead PvP scene in space. Then we pick a starter system go to two really out of the way points in the system (hell and gone from the main traffic areas) and have this thing out.

I'm DEFINITELY game for it. I can pretty much do any night but Sunday.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Then we shouldn't need guards/interceptors (which we certainly would on Bloodfin, Starsider, Bria, etc) and everyone can start a noob pilot so we won't have to worry about making people drop their squads to participate.

Good point. Plus Tatooine doesn't get many overt players. Atleast from what i've seen on Bloodfin. So chances of a stray overt running into us in that system is less. You'd just have to worry about the greifers. Which would be easy to spot. A JSF flying through Tat coming for us is a good bet that he's coming for us.

There are no faction stations in Tat space, don't know if this is good or bad.

Sounds good to me. Yavin 4 would be good place to have it... not many static spawns there and only one space station, and it isn't a starter planet like tat.

What about the Karthakk system? There's a station for both sides to declare.

True, though I'm not sure I want to be flying around Kash space in a newb ship. Lots of higher level spawns and then there's the inherent lag.

im sorry but dogfigthing in the prototype ships would not be any fun. they are far too slow and unresponsive to be able to any kind of tactics. the head on pass is where the kill would happen every time.

I like this idea, and have comment to add to it: Are the Noob instances of the 3 starter space sectors still active?

For those who do not know what I'm asking, at one point if a new pilot launched, he went into a different instance of space then higher level pilots. You don't launch into 'normal' space until you've completed the 4 entry pilot quests. Thus, if Noob-Space is still active, I don't think we have to fear higher level party crashers.
