Thread: POB Components

My alt is a Master Shipwright, and I decided to make my main some POB ship parts for his VT-49 Decimator. I had to spend a good day space mining to get enough materials, but I put my nose to the grind stone and did it. I didn't have any info on what these components were like because I couldn't find any for sale that would update info on the terms, and there were few anyways and all cost a mil apiece at least.
So I made a full compliment of POB ship parts. 2 weapons, a shield, 2 pieces of armor, a capacitor, an engine, a reactor, and a booster. The weapons actually came out little better than the cl9 crafted blaster I made, or the looted boltdriver I had on the ship already. In fact, since I exp for higher dmg, I had lower effectiveness on the POB weapons. The Shield came out pretty good, close to 4k front/back if I remember right. The reactor came out to be 22k gen rate. Capacitor wasn't much better than the looted one I had. Booster was only a bit better than the one I had (another loot item). The POB engine was actually slower than my current crafted engine, but with slightly higher YPR. The armor was the same armor but higher HP than what I already had (crafted armor).
The reason I am listing all of this is to backup the purpose of my post...Why are POB parts so weak? They are naturally 250k mass apiece and are for big multi ships only. I'm sorry, but a POB weapon should be a different animal from a regular weapon. It's a turret gun on an attack ship, not a blaster on a fighter. The shields and armor should also be that of a heavy attack ship too. As it is, I cannot achieve near the level I should in such a vessel. I lose manuverability in an attack ship, the very thing that gives a small, agile fighter it's combat ability. I should gain attack power and defense capabilities...but honestly it isn't quite where it should be, and I think POB components is the reason. I used excellent resources and an excellent crafting station, but they mostly came out to be a disappointment. Call me crazy, but I think a YT-1300 or a VT-49 decimator, etc should be able to go toe-to-toe with an NPC attack ship (gunboats, etc). I mean toe-to-toe as in sit there and shoot each other and have a good chance of winning, not sneak up behind and lay into him from his blindspot. If he can have guns like that, I want them to.
Anyone else use POB parts? Disappointed? Are there RE that can get to the 5-8k weapons range? What do you POB pilots think.

Well, that was more geared towards shipwrights, I am more interested in a dialogue between pilots on what they think about POB ships and what their capabilities should be...and what they think about those capabilities that currently exsist. Personally, I think the available shields, armor, and weapons for POB ships is about half what they should be.

Never used them.. seen a couple on the vendor search but I am not paying 1mil credits for a single part to go on a ship I probably won't fly in combat except to make the occational noob motion sick.

Once you get an experienced crew, these ships are quite useful. They are just underpowered for the loss of manueverability. I think if a POB ship could have turrets with 10k damage and armor 10k/10k and shields 10k/10k alot more people would use them. And I don't think this would make them too uber for pvp, just more useful.

That other thread is exactly what this one is about. Fixes for the handicapped Engine, Booster, and Capacitor (among other things) and stat increase all around for POB ships. Trying to get feedback about Elite components when we are awaiting a serious change to them in an upcoming Publish seems futile.

the "FIX" was going to be a 10% boost to the mat stats used in the making of the parts but now its only 2% so im not expecting much. i was going to have a few things made for me but now ill wait and see what kind of stats 2% will give us
i take that back after looking over the dev post again it looks more like the % boost they addd with the buff was not the fix but something nice added with .. SO the new parts after the publish will be much better .. not because of a buff but that their stats have been uped
