Once you good Jtl Players out there get to Ace...Do you stay there?...or grind up another squad or even faction?

I can see that badge hunters will want the badges ...or the helmets...and I can see switching faction to pilot different ships...but other than that...any reason?

Changing pilot faction will also boost the XP earned per kill up to 3x the XP per kill.

Once you get Ace, you stay ace until you drop it. (To grind up another faction/squadron) Then you all your skills, and all XP you have made.

Ah yes. I did rebel pilot and dropped it, and switched to freelance. I was getting 4x the xp during double xp week and made 1mil xp in a mission (tier 4).

I know you have to drop your current status as an Ace to grind up a new squad...ouch..

But is it something that people do?

Sure! The challenge of the missions, plus more loot and parts.

First time I went up against a real Ace in PVP, I realized I didn't have what it took, in skills or equipment. I remastered another squadron, and took my time, learning lots.

Now I, uh, just like to do it 'cause I'm nuts.

yeah doing the other squads is fun, but the Escort missions are killer boring.

Storm for Imperialand Vortex for Rebel are the worst of all.

Just curious, could I drop Storm, and retake it to get the rewards I seem to have sold? Or do I have to refly another squadron or complete other faction? I have been thinking of flying an easy faction to get the rewards and then refly up SS, but have hesitated doing it as I spend almost 100% of my time in space. I still have packs with most of my ships, and their parts laying around somewhere so going up an Imperial tree should be fairly simple.

Sure you could do Storm over again, and get a second set of reward equipment...but why would you want to? Unless you actually enjoyed all of those soul-crushingly boring escort missions. You would be better off trying one of the other Imperial squadrons. You would still get your rewards, get a new badge, and also get to enjoy a different story. Inquisition is the easier of the two, I think, but the Black Epsilon has a pretty cool story and challenging, rewarding missions.

I actually learned to love the Storm Squadron. Did them all solo, and I have to say it was an awesome learning curve. More likely I will do all three over again to outfit all my ships instead of having to have ship loadouts in backpacks in a house.

You make me want to cry. I have a 3/3/2/2 Storm Squadrom Pilot on Infinity who has been stuck there for a long time. I just started A rebel pilot for vortex who is 2/2/2/2 on ahazi. I just failed the next mission after gettting 2 hours into it. JTL has been very frustration. Ive picked the two hardest squadrons on accident. SS was by accident the day JTL came out. Vortex i had no idea was hard until i read this post.

So can someone clarify what you mean about getting 3x xp? If you drop an ace prof you will perminately get 3x normal xp for flying?

Ok, quick question about the bonus xp:

If I have a friend grouped in the same ship, i.e. nova or ywing, do they benefit from the bonus xp as well?

Yes it is. I mastered Freelance and am now working my way up Storm Squadron. I thought I was a decent pilot as a Freelance Ace, but some situations (ie gunboats etc) gave me fits. But I am a much better pilot now, and the other night solo'ed two Novas and a Gunboat at the same time.

Could not do that before. Votex, here I come!
