Whats the easiest way to solo a gunship? I tried blowing away their reactor real fast but surprisingly... their guns can fire without an energy source!

There any safe zones vs a YT-1300 (Millenium Falcon Style) ship? they seem to maneuver better than most of the other gunships so its hard to stay out of their crosshairs

For mission gunboats, I recommend jousting. Fly straight at them, guns blazing and aiming for their engine. Then boost past them and out of range until your shields are ready for another pass.

As soon as they're disabled, underneath both Imperial and Rebel gunboats is a nice big blind spot.

As a note, the biggest mistake I see people make when attacking gunboats is they attack them from above - lots of room up there for the turret to track you.

Or, to use the pilot term, straffing runs.

If we distinguish the 2gun ships from actual gunboats, there is a tactic that works pretty well for them. Simply mak sure you are alway well above or well below them. That way only one of the guns can shoot you at a time. Not a blind spot, but a much safer method than trying to soak damage from both weapons at once.

are you talking about mission gunboats or just random flying about gunboats? (or the vette's gunboats?) The mission ones can be a little difficult, but the vette and random ones have a blind spot right underneath it

Gunboats don't have any collision. If you have a good pilot touch, you can sit inside them.

For taking out YT's I always aim for the guns. On gunboats I use the prescribed stay at 550 range tactic unless they are mission gunboats, in which case I joust them.

Got a mission one, going to try to fly directly on their tail then shoot a proton rifle or two at their engine since they start off as neutral towards me

Fly straight toward them, blazing away, target weapons or whatever. let the front shields take a hit, if you are going full speed, you won't be in the line of fire too long, but neither will they, but they can't recharge the shields like you can. Anyway, pass through them, let the back shields take a hit, Get out of range, Shunt to shields and repleat until they are dead.

Hey uh bro you just might be a bit more effective useing a proton missle launcher than that rifle. Though I have to admit balls of steel to pop your canopy and fire off a couple rounds with your rifle!

Hmm, SOE using a term for a medieval horseback maneuver when they should be using 20th century term for an aircraft piloting maneuver.... this explains a lot......
