Presently I am a3/3/3/3 Imperial Pilot flying for the Imperial Inquistion

My question to all you veteran's is this, whenflying for experience to train in your first tier 4 box, what do you suggest? The reason why I am asking is because right now I am grinding my flight time outon dutymission's that I can pull from either the Dantooine or Naboo space station's.Mostly though, I am taking the duty mission from the Naboo space station because I enjoy shooting down rebel x-wing's in the Lok system

But, while ever fun it is blowing rebel's out of the sky, getting between 400 experience and 1400 experience pointsper ship when you have a 1,000,000 experience point box to fill, is a bit slow And since I have read here in the pilot forum people saying that they can fill a tier 4 box in about two hours time, and I compare what I have attempted and am currently doing, I am not sure how they do it

I tried searching for the answer to this question but everythread I found, seemed to applyto those pilots flying in their tier 4 ship outfitted with tier 4 components. Not someone say like myself who is flying in my Tie Interceptor outfitted with at best, tier 3 components. So any advanced from my fellow pilots would surely be most appreciated! Not only would I thank you, but the Emperor would as well

You nave to realize first, that the difference between tier3-4 gear is a lot less marked and important as it is in other tiers. You should be able to kill and survive vs tier4 mobs just fine, the question becomes killing speed.

Think of your parts in terms of mass effectiveness. How much does each one do in relation to the amount of mass it costs you? Then realize that the Interceptor requires a lot of parts with good-excellent mass effectiveness to be a truly efficient killing machine. It sounds like you're putting the best you can fit from what you have now into the Interceptor, and coming up short vs tier4 ships.

You may have to get some heavier gear, pack it in a Bomber and slug it out. If you can't get at least a good player crafted MKIV shield and weapon into your Interceptor. Those are the baseline every player should work from, and worry about getting smaller/faster/tougher RE'd gear later. Make sure you're taking full advantage of every cert you've been granted so far (including flight computer and droid programs), and you will be ready to tackle those 1million xp boxes.

Either go after easy targets in kessel and other spots, like tier 5 bwings, for 7K exp a piece, or shoot down tier 3 stuff that respawns fast in Endor or other spots. I assume you are suing weapon overload 3, engine overload 3, reactor overload 3 and cap overload 3?

Teaming up with a friend and going after duty missions (or helping people with missions to level) is also a nice way to make exp.

Ok, first let me begin my reply by giving an example of what happens when I take a "destroy"duty mission from the Grand Inquisitorin the Emporer's retreat. I launch my Tie Interceptor, hyper into the Dathomir system and engage the tier 4pirate's who fly around in small, hard to hit ships.I apologize for not having their correct ship name, butI am at work at the moment and the name of thetype of ship thatit is,escapes me at the presently. But they remind me of the rebel a-wing.

So once engaged, in a one on one dog fight, I can hold my own. He can't even touch me for the most part. But when he does, it hurts!Once engaged, it takes me about 5+ minutes at best to blow the pirate out of the sky Thats a lot of time my friends for one kill So then a wave of two pirate'scome flying at me and the next dog fight begins! And almost just as fast as it begins, it ends.

Once one of those pirate's gets behind me, in all but four, maybe five shots, he has done tore through my shields and isblasting through my armour! So when I turn to engage him, his buddy makes a 180 turn and engages my six. And again, I have no shields and not much armour left at this point. So, aside from hanging around and gettingshot down, I hyper out. Live to fight another day I say

Now,the gear in my Tie Interceptorare level 5 component parts. I trieddifferent combinations, but perhaps I really don't know how to effectively, with good balance, equip my ships. I've tried placing a better blaster on my Tie, but then I can't seem to equip it with anything else as the mass for my blaster is outrageousAgain, I think it is that I just don't know how to balance everything out. My Tie can turn on a dime and keep up with anything I have come across, it just can't takedamage or dish it out

In regards to myTie Bomber, now there is a ship that can take a pounding and keep flying strong! I even have some really good tier 7 blasters for it as well! But my Bomber is like flying a trailer through space Itovershoots when I make a turn and is slow to bring it back around for a goodshot. Now, if I could only merge the two together, I think I would be all set

I looked on my hyperspace map when I am in my ship and don't see a Kessel option? Where is that system located at? And I did try endor once but as I was moving in, taking a look around I agro'd something that continously launched missle after missle after me and wouldn't stop So not knowing what I was up against, I hyper'd out of there real quick and haven't been back From the few ships I did "recon" in the Endor system, they were all Tier 5!

Here's some tips that can really help when using a light ship.

Find a good RE'd LEVEL 1 reactor. They weigh usually about 1k and can generate about 12k of power.

Use a capacitor that can support your weapons for a little while. I have 2 heavy weapons and a 37.9 capacitor, and I can shoot full out for about 7 seconds. Soon I'll have some nice droid programs to use and I won't have to stop shooting.

Use the light ship theory. Get rid of your armor and get a REALLY good shield, recharge 15 with like 1800 in front and back, maybe more. This can be VERY expensive.

If you can, find a Level 1 Droid Interface from when level 1's had really low numbers. Could be hard to find though.

Get a Flight Computer and get (I think these are the best) Reactor Overload 4, Capacitor Overload 3, Weapon Overload 4, and Capacitor to Shield Shunt 4.

That's all I can think of now, I'll edit if something else comes to me.

Kessel can be reached through the Claw Station in Endor, as an imperial pilot. But if you have trouble outfitting your ship with level 7 gear, check the threads here about interceptors. I would go for a re'd level 6 gun, and a crafted level 7 shield, 1700ish strength, 14K mass. Reward engine (12K mass or so), lightweight crafted booster (less than 1K mass), re'd level 2 cap (1500ish mass), crafted level 1 reactor (1K mass, 12000ish output), and some armor.

The key you let me in on is the Lvl5 shield in your interceptor. You're never going to last with one.

Shave mass everywhere else you can, get a good weapon, engine, shield in the ship, then fit your other parts in around those.

I killed DWB Tier 4 ships around Endor, and other Tier 4's around Dathomir. Only took a couple nights per box. Another way is to help other people do their missions. You get full xp for even hitting a ship once.

go to dathomir Dark force.

Now look for Tier 5 Hidden Daggers gunboats.

There seems to always be 3 or 4 flying around and they follow a long patch in a kind of circle.

They appear to respawn once you kill the Hidden Daggers fighters in the area too.

Great for quick xp.

Just hover below them at a distance and blast off gun 2, then follow them blasting. Bobs your uncle...xp galore .

I love the Dathomir sector.

So pretty.

I just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who replied to this thread

Over the weekend I hope to have the time to take to the sky and try some new things out! Well, that and Comcast needs to keep from playing around with their dns which kept me from logging on tonight save for about 30 minutes

But here's to hoping for a good "productive" weekend in space After spending over aweek and stillgrinding out my first tier 4 box, I could use some "productiveness"

You couldn't get in to fly? Lucky, last night I lost connection in Kessel. Not pretty, as you can guess.

Just a suggestion, if you get a wingman and have them disable and you kill the ships it goes pretty fast. I like Enor and fighting death watch. The spawn fast and have good loot and are 3k+ XP per kill. And Death watch is slower in movement than the pirates.
