Thread: Just for fun, my TIE Interceptor

Plain ol' fashioned TIE Interceptor, not the new Royal Guard version. I was bored tonight so I deeded one of my ships and threw this together with some junk I had around, I had the deed in my bank from my first grind ages and ages ago. Nothing uber, but I was very pleased with the results.

I cruised out to Deep Space for a while - my kill ratio was 4 / 0, including one JSF and one Heavy Syck. At least two of those could be considered "good" pilots, and one repeat making it technically 5 / 0. No one else ever showed up to play with me.

I just want to throw this out for fun, some mild bragging, and to rub it in the face of folks who complain about the Vaksai having one gun, or the JSF being too light on mass, or other stupid things. I still think those ships are grossly overpowered, but crappy pilots in overpowered ships do not good pilots make.

My loadout:

3k mass 13k regen reactor - way too big, but it's all I had on hand.

9.1k mass engine, 82.2 speed, 67.6 / 69.1 / 68.6 YPR

18.4k shield, 1895 HP F/B

No armor

978.9 mass cap, 32.6 regen

1.2k booster, RE'd with moderate stats

494 Mark 1 DI

14k mass gun, 1962 - 3367 damage, .320 refire

And some silly chaff launcher I threw in for fun.

Not to mention, a full suite of droid programs.

Final mass was 48371 / 49796. And for people who panic on chassis condition, a measly 926/926 (I died a lot back then).

Hhhh, may to throw one together. I was flying around in my Advanced the other night, but I hate the throttle mod on it. If I transfered all the equipment to the Interceptor but replaced the L8 Engine with my L6, that could be some fun

You and I can run around Deepspace embarassing the rebels with our interceptors

I love the interceptor. Can be a pain to outfit if you don't have the parts but it defintly one of the most fun ships to fly.

I could nitpick at the stats of some of your components but I will just say, keep collecting those parts and get some good REs. You are in the ballpark but upgrading is very possible. Having recently loaded out several lower mass ships I congratulate you for giving the interceptor a second look. Not an easy choice when you can get a Heavy Tie.

Heh, most of those are RE's, leftovers from other projects!

Last night was fun, I think I'll hang on to this for a while, maybe start seriously trying to equip it.

I'd respect a dedicated standard Squint pilot more than an A-wing pilot. Mainly because it'd be suicidal but I think an exceptionally fantastic pilot may be able to pull it off. Lvl 8 engine and a lvl 5 gun perhaps...mk III shield? Not punchy or strong in the protection department, but the engine would be up to scratch at least and the weapon spread is better than most ships...Hmm, I might try that when I start up on Valcyn.

What about a L8 engine + Img Rec and no lasers You'd have to land a lot..but I bet you could get a lot of kills while are up there!

I love the Interceptor. I set one up with my alt with a Lvl 10 Engine.. thing danced beautifully. but, was only able to stick in a lvl 4 gun. No shields, no armor. Nailed a JSF five times before Starscream came in and finished him for me That was a blast. Felt like a real Interceptor. I did just change it out to a lvl 8 engine and upped the gun to a lvl 7. but only been able to take it out once. Fought an Awing and had a good duel in it, but could definately tell a difference between the Lvl 8 and lvl 10.

Or a L10 Engine + Image Rec + no shields.

That'd work too!

Nah, being stuck to his tail with a L10 engine + lag = no actual time to deploy countermeasures. The missile will hit him on the server before he even gets the warning on the client. Or at least close enough to that that he won't have time to react.

As a simple responce..I'm more of a gunfighter so I wouldnt mind ditching missiles.
