Thread: Ok I was bored....
I remember thinking if you fly at an angle down the side of the station with the camera tight behind the x-wing it kind of looks like you are flying down the death star trench, I made the mistake of "thinking" it out loud in guild chat and getting a lot of "you sad loser lol" messages
I love doing that. Its what I tend to do in my boredness when I got nothing to kill on Bria. What I actually use the Rebel stations long flat surface for though is to test the responce of my A-wing and to sharpen my turns.
What you do is, fly in full throttle and just as you near the wall, you hit your pre set throttle 'sweet spot' for turning and yank your ship into a kinda 180 degree 'tumble' using r,p and y then zip back up to 100% throttle again. It is awesome because if you do it right and you have a manouverable enough ship, you'll actually notice you more or less 'back flip' on the spot while inertia causes your ship to displace a few extra metres during this turn. I've had it work a lot of the time where my engines are almost touching the station as I boost away...
Kind of sad I guess, but hey...thats another reason I moved to SS.

Anyone remember the first Tie Fighter game? They had a course to fly through that tested your aim and skill as a pilot and it kept getting faster and faster.... We need one of those! That would rock.
I took my ship out and started flying around and through the Naboo space station...just weaving in and out of the station arms...
I actually was doing this for quite a bit..didn't realize an HOUR has passed since I started doing it...I was having so much fun....ok ok so if you dangle a ball of yarn in front of me i'll have fun too...
So this idea struck me something doable since they did improve the collision detection with the station...
Why not have a place with a LARGE super structure that fighters can fly in, out off and through it....
It be great for PvP... won't quite work for PvE cuz the AI's to dumb to avoid collision...
You guys really have to try flying high speed in and around the space station...makes it actually feel your moving really fast...real starwarsy...sorta reminded me of the death star run II...
Hint: Although third person view seems to be a logical POV to fly in when weaving in and out of the structure...I found it easier to judge intertial drift in first person view...
Billingbiri(sp?) Shipyards..
Kuat Drive Shipyards...
The Black Fleet Convoy..(static ships with maybe one or two Dreadnaughts that would fly around at shoot at people)...
If they can put a "static" convoy of ships around Corellia with the ships in close proximity with each other, it would be ok. Latency shouldn't be that big of an issue since all the ships are static so the collision detection would work client side.
You really get the feel of motion when you flying by something real close with out using the "fake" space dust thing.
Golan Defense Platforms would also be cool....but that's gear more toward the GCW...

1) There is an abandoned space station in Tatooine space, at least it is on Eclipse. It has no shields like the ones we land at, so in PVP a person couold not hide under the shilds as they can at a landing station. IO found it one day when out farming Tier 1 ties.(like doing that to inflate my ego. 1 shot kills with any of the ships I fly)
If that abandoned station exists in all servers...which i beleive it would, it would be a good place for pvp.
I have a waypoint for it, so I'll post it when I get home from work if anyone is interested.
I think that abandoned station in Tatooine space is actually the centrepoint of this week's pvp event on Starsider coincidentally
What we really need is a nice tight trench to fly along looking for an exhaust port.
With turbo lasers and chasing TIE fighters.
