OK, now that my mind is swirling... is there an option to turn on a "Smoke trail" or inothers games it's called "Wingtip smoke"?

this could be used for training in flight or just fancy displays involving multiple craft.

No.

There's no atmosphere in space. Contrails should not exist.

I'm not asking about contrails... I'm asking about colored smoke... in space this could be achieved by releasing small amounts of luminicient particles that give off light or reflect light so they could be seen...

In space we would not hear the other craft's engines, or hear the explosions... our ship would feel the shockwave, but we would not hear... yet we do ingame... so since that boundery has already been crossed why not marker smoke?

Misunderstood

But the answer is still no. It's not ingame.

By the way...Sound in space has been explained...Movie wise....no sound would make for a boring movie....

I realize it's for the effects of the game and Ilove those effects

i was just saying, since we've already "Blurred" that boundry... why not a littel smoke.

the advantages would be as SCM (Space Combat Manuvers) are developed, the could be recorded in a video and the trail shows the path of the ship, or formation flying through manuvers and such... More of a teaching tool for friends and guildies.

Not saying I disagree with you. In fact I think it's a cool idea.

Have someone record your flight maneuvers...and if it worked (haven't checked) the formation commands.....who needs the Blue Angels! We have ships that auto correct! lol

Lol!

Sorry.

No Atmosphere, sound in space... there's no need to explain either.

It's science fiction.

(but just as an aside, space is not empty, and ion trails could, technically, be visible, or made to be).

P.S.:

I've never seen a glowey-red ribbonlike trail following my arm as I smacked someone upside the head, either.... (TKM anyone?)

Dude, if it was glowey-red, you may want to get checked by a doctor if any landed on ya... just in case...

No contrail glows, but I alway felt that spamming /launchmissile into someone makes for a nice impromptu fireworks show.

Until you've had the "/launchmissile command turned on you in the middle of a mission, you have no idea how distracting it can be. I for one am glad it's gone.
