Thread: Suggestions for things we can use Prestiege points for
Some of the different uses for prestige people like are:
-using it to unlock elite missions
-buying super duper subcomponents to be used in the crafting of ship parts by shipwrights
Buying chassis outright or buying parts outright is generally unpopular because we love our shipwrights, and don't want them to suffer. It's a symbiotic circle, and it's bad enough the most popular ships in the game right now have nothing to do with them.
The Components
Engines, reactors, boosters, weapons, droid interfaces, shields, armor, capacitors, and mining equipment would be available to all factions in the form of one time use schematics which could be built by a Master Shipwright. These items would be the best of all crafted components and could only be used by a Master Pilot.
Each schematic would have different values, prestige wise. Critical components which are need to make a ship space worthy would be priced at or around 700K, whereas the minor components would only be between 200K and 400K. Mining equipment would be at the set price of 500K per mining laser and 800K per cargo hold.
No limit on how many of each schematic a person can have. All of the components crafted will not be able to RE. The components crafted from the schematics, as well as the schematics themselves, could be sold and traded.
The Chassis
Along with components, three chassis would be available in the form of deeds. These will also be purchased by all factions, with the exception being that each faction will have one that would be cheaper than the rest (i.e. if the YT-2400 light freighter were to be put in-game, it would be cheaper for Freelance pilots, but not for an Imperial or Rebel pilots). These ships would be POB. No limit on the number one person could have. These deeds could not be sold or traded.
Other Items
Space related decorations could also be bought. Miniatures of all the ships, paintings, and the YT seating could be bought. None of the above could be crafted.
Full sets of clothing (Shirts, Pants and Shorts, Jackets, Vests, Dresses and Robes, Shoes and Boots, Hats and Headwear, Gloves, Belts, Bodysuits, and Bandoliers/Packs) including faction aligned uniforms, would be on sale at the parts dealer. These could be traded and sold. Note: Species which could not wear the default clothing would be given a selection in which they could wear.
Schematics for new texture kits would also be available. These could only be used by Master Shipwrights. New patterns and faction symbols would be in kits. These kits could be used on all ships (except Imperial crafts). No limit on the amount one person can buy. These items can be sold and traded.
Other Notes
I choose not to apply the idea in which each squadron would have their own ship. It 1) would put a lot of stress on the Devs to create nine separate ships which were all equal to one another in performance, 2) be hard to find nine ships that would fit the timeline and 3) have it so people would not complain that Squadron A has a cooler looking ship than Squadron B.
We all know that the game became unbalanced when the new RotW ships arrived. I believe that the Devs, if this system were implemented, would like to avoid that unfair ship creation this time around. Having to create three ships would be a lot easier to balance than nine ships.
Now, I can pretty much say safely that at least one person is going to respond “The timeline is already messed up.” That may be true, but SOE is trying to attract customers with some of the more recent stuff added. Many of the Devs are trying to keep the game true to the time period it is set in.
I can also predict that people will also respond with “I won’t complain if someone has a cooler ship.” Most people who will read this are experienced players. I’m referring to the people who play the game and rarely come onto the forums. The ones who shout “NERF!” when they see something they don’t like or believe to be unfair, when in reality, it is good the way it is.
I also didn’t think making POB exclusive furniture was necessary. Decorations like the YT seating would be fine enough.

Personally, I'd like to see a programable autopilot for POB ships. We set up, say, 3 to 5 waypoints and the ship will patrol between them. Similar to the patrol points we can set up for droids.Message Edited by IdigitalDale on 07-30-2005 05:57 AM
That would make the Yacht more like a cruise ship. That would be awesome! Party on the inside while you traveled the space sector. But how does that tie in with Prestige points?
A few points...
- Any rewards you get for prestige points need to be VERY expensive, because there are a lot of players will massive amounts of prestige points. For example, I've currently got 225mil Pilot Prestige, and I know there are players who have even more. If a nice componenthad a cost ofsay only 1mil prestige, someone like me could buy enough of them to outfit every active PvP pilot of my server, twice over, if I wanted.
- Using the regular loot system you can already put together components that make PvE rediculously easy and push the limit of what the PvP game-engine can handle. I'd be hesitant to add in any components that are yet another notch better.
That being said, here's somethings that would work that wouldn't really unbalance anything...
- Guns of various levels that don't have amazing stats, but have fire graphics that aren't available on any normal looted guns.
- Ace helmets and jackets with different color schemes or slightly different looks.
- Unique texture kits for starships.
- Hologramsof various types of fighters.
- Replacement chassis of the quest reward ships, such as the JSF and Vaksai.
- Engines that don't have amazing stats, but have a new third type of appearance graphics when loaded into a ship.
- Access to elite missions.
- Decorative furniture items that look good inside the POB ships.
- Enhancer items that shipwrights can use to craftcomponents that are closer in stats to decent reverse engineered components.
- One time use tailor schematics for the ace helmets and jackets so that you could have a tailor craft you one with BE tissues and/or sockets.
- A few new titles, such as say "flight leader", "pirate", or "wing commander".
How about an imperial navy uniform like the first trainer on Naboo is wearing? I really would like one of toughs, especially the black command hat. Or rank badges, they could be made to use the necklace spot and just be think enough to protrude throe the jacket.
Or how about letting us but banners and the imperial/rebel logo holograms after we had completed the quests.
I would rather have more useful fluff, then adding stuff that would make the game easier.

*Edit* being able to call a repair droid for a high fee would be nice too
