Thread: Imperial Pilot: getting trained

I'm having a problem getting trained. I'm with Black Epsilon squadron, and have just been transferred to the Yavin missions. I'm 2-2-2-2 pilot, and my xp is capped at 200K but the trainer just keeps giving me the mission, which I can't complete as I get totally overwhelmed by the number of enemy that spawn. If I could get another skill box and upgrade my shields/weapon to Level 6/7, I think I'd have a better chance in what is a desperatley uneven battle (this is a game after all,not being able to progress at allis no fun). My TIE is alreadyequipped with about the best stuff I could get my hands on at this level.

It's getting annoying to do the mission over and over because I'm not getting any xp for the kills that I do make.

Have I missed a way of getting training without completeing the missions ? Or do any ace pilots have advice on how I can complete the mission - disable & dock with a spy, then transfer the data to a shuttle - I can do the first part, but am hopelessly outnumbered in the second (wave after wave of T3 fighters).

Thanks for any help

Any well equipped ace pilot can cut through low level NPCs like a warm sword through butter. Learn to use droid commands and bring along a wingman.

Not sure what tactics your using but try to disable rather then destroy. It uses alot less cap energy. And also what was already stated, use droid commands. You can also try picking up some droid chips from the other factions and put those in you flight comp/droid.

Good Luck

So we're saying that I can't advance until I complete the mission ? Thanks for the droid tips, I'll try that too.

Also, a couple of times when the first wing of enemy fighters spawn, the camera switches view by itselfand I can't get it back to normal view. I'd like to see even an ace pilot fight off superior enemy ships whenhe's looking at the front of his shipand has no chance of aiming. Is this a known bug?

tier 3 is mission based only... you don't need to grind the xp.

To answer your question about not being able to train; Tier 3 you can only train after completing the mission assigned. XP does not matter in Tier 3.

Try pressing the Num Lock key, it should reset your camera to a normal forward locked camera.

This has never happened to me. Might be a bug or something to do with your stick and SWG. Not sure though.

no... it is called chase camera... no mater which way you face it will stay on your target. it is easily toggled by the num lock key or in the options window

I must have disabled it then cause it's never happened to me. Good to know though if it ever happens to me.

Does this also count for Tier 2? I am 1/2/1/1 and I can't train to 2/2/1/1. I didnt have any trouble training my first Tier 2 box, but the more I read it seems like I need to finish the quests. It is hard to complete these quests at this level and my TIE is maxed on mass, I can't even get my missiles to load. I bought some but when I try to load them nothing happens, not even an error message. I R NUB!

The missile load issue is seperate from mass. Sometimes components (most often droids/FCs and ammunition) just won't load. Close the manage screen, run around like an idiot for a few seconds (I usually run about 25m from the terminal) come back and try again. On the bright side of this bug, it happened to me once and I didn't notice that I hadn't actually reloaded my ammo. It wasn't 'till I was in the first furball of the mission that I realized I was flying without ordinance, and at that point I wasn't about to turn around and restart the mission just to reload. Broke me of my reliance on missiles.

If this is the mission I think it is you have to dock and travel to another shuttle then dock again. Get a fast engine and run any engine overload program. Then fly straight to the deliver waypoint and dock. Dont fight the enemies that try to stop you as they will keep coming UNTIL you doclk.

I think the funny view is caused by some docking bugged. I got killed while docking (didnt clear the top turret) once and when i repaired at the station I flew sideways for 10 klicks, right back to the ship and completed the docking operation. Weird.
