Is there one? I didn't see it on the list in the FAQ.

Yeah, I wanted to include it in a macro I'm writing though. Oh well.

It's too damned hard to press "Z" or bind it to a joystick button?

Z is Target Next Enemy Player, so it's even more useful as it'll find more than one if there ARE more than one within distance.

I asked for answers, not flames. I got my answer, it doesn't work. I've let it go, why can't you? Not that it's any of your business but I do have a key mapped on my joystick and I do push it every couple of seconds. That's not what I wanted it for but thanks for being "constructive".

The problem some people have with your request is not the laziness with which it can so easily be associated with, it's the decrease in Pilot awareness that will result if an answer is found. I've been very happy that no one has come up with (or at least publicized) a solution, and am also happy to do what I can to end the search of those of whom continue to look.

You search for something many people do not wish to be found. Don't be surprised when you encounter hostility when you make a public request for the answer.

While I can understand why people don't want other people to find this command, it's not like the only use for it is for lazy people to avoid having to push a button occasionally. I think people are so put off by macros in this game because of looping macros and AFK macros that as soon as someone wants to find an obscure UI command to do something, they immediately assume the worst.

However, I'll play the devil's advocate here and ask you what does it really hurt if someone has a looping macro to target the nearest player? Sure, they don't have to be situationally aware but getting ganked while you're mostly interested in PvE isn't exactly fun either. So to turn it around, you may post about how lazy people are for wanting a macro to target the nearest enemy player. Just don't be surprised when their reply is to accuse you of not wanting this found so you can continue ganking people who are unaware because you want an easy kill and lack the skill for a straight-up fight.

Please note that I'm not trying to turn this into a flame war and I don't advocate the use of looping macros (except maybe for at the keyboard crafing because well, that just sucks--if you don't agree, try grinding weaponsmith without one). What I do advocate is seeing the argument from both perspectives without instantly throwing accusations around.

If you are mostly interested in PvE....don't declare, Don't go to DeepSpace. There are planty of places to farm loot outside DS

But not faction and I hate to break it to you, but that's why a lot of people are up there. I'll be honest, I'm a master smuggler and a decent amount of my money comes from selling faction. I can make more faction in 10 minutes in space than I can in over an hour on the ground. Sometimes I want to just farm and not be bothered with PvP. I accept that it's part of the game and I don't complain about it but that doesn't mean I'd unhappy if there was a way to avoid PvP while grinding faction. I've had a few people mention to me when they asked where the best place to get faction from is that if you can farm faction on the ground without risking PvP, why not in space?

Because after a certain point of Pilot progression, naturally spawning NPCs just aren't very lethal, yet the provide the enhanced fp rewards that come with space. You actually answered your own question though. Space is the best place for faction. What is the price of this added potential for reward? The risk of PvP.

Im sorry i have to chuckle.

I started a thread just like this one months ago.

I tried, i tried hard. Too hard.

The answer is, No, you can't macro target nearest enemy so you can be lazy with the Z key spammage.

Just remap it to somewhere more "ergonomic" for your control setup. best you can do.
