Thread: Tips for a newb?
Easiest pilot career: CorSec.
Best Galaxy: If you want to play in a galaxy with a strong support for its pilot community, pick Starsider. If you want to fashion yourself into some sort of starfighter hero pick one of the servers whose pilot community hasn't quite established itself yet.
Ships: If you go freelance, you're not going to need anything more than a dunelizard. Some people will encourage you to buy the rihx when you hit tier 4, and I guess it is a fine ship for pve, if you don't mind the sluggish handling. Personally, I've considered contracting a creature handler to get a dunelizard back in my datapad, since it got edged out by the horribly unbalanced but fun to fly bel-22.

I am thinking of starting a piolet, and was wondering if anyone had any good tips (i.e. easiest trainers, best galaxy to play on, what ships should I use at what time, and that sort of thing)
Thanks
A good thread withpilot tips is this one - K.I.S.S.: A guild to becoming a better pilot

I just started recently as well and been at it a few weeks. One of the things that has helped me the most and no one told me was to read the Pilot forums regularly. The Pilot forum is unlike any forum I have seen in SWG in that folks tend to be very helpful and knowledgeable about all kinds of facets of the game no matter what their faction is. You'll see Imps talking about which Reb ships give them the most trouble and vice versa. It is an extremely helpful community.
I sing the praises of Starsider heavily, but very important in a galaxy decision is the number of quality stocked shipwrights (if you don't plan on it yourself). Look to a sticky in the shipwright forum for lists of vendors and such.
Any fast ways to get money in space? Ships and parts for them are turning out to be very expensive, and I was hoping to concentrate on just space for a while, and not have to start a ground clas from the beginning to gain the money needed.
Also I found a capacitator with
~1200 reactor drain
~6000 mass
~850/850
~40 recharge rate
It's a level 4. I remember reading somewhere that a level two with 30 is good, but is a 4 with 40 still a keeper?

I have tried using the green dot in the middle of the X, but that isn't consistant at al same goes with trying to line up the blue boxes. Thanks for any and all help.
That is more of an estimate of the directioon they are headed. More than likely, you need to aim somewhere between the green indicator and the ship. Exactly where depend on both your speeds as well as your angle of approach. After a while, you'll get to where you can estimate pretty well. Just takes practice.

I'm not anywhere near an expert on gear. But, I remember someone saying that a starfighter really has no need for a capacitor about MarkII. But, the real important piece of info at your current stage is Mass. I have both over and under estimated my need for capacitor power. It basicly has to do with how much capacitor you drain when shooting. If you never seem to have enough capacitor energy to shoot, you either need to learn better fire control or get a bigger capacitor (capacitor overload also works, but you'll have more useful programs you'll want in there). The big things on a capacitor are total energy (needed for Cap to shield shunt), recharge rate and mass.

Money can be tricky early on. A few things though. Sell the junk to the vendor. Try selling the decent stuff on the baz. Find a cheap shipwright. You need to face the fact that you are not going to get uber gear from the get go. You can upgrade as time goes on. Also, you can look for and kill things 1 tier below you. Decent cash, not good xp though. For a little of both, kill things your own tier.
