Thread: anyone use WO4?

I find this overload to be totally worthless.... can't sustain fire for even 4-5 seconds, and the damage increase is nowhere near enough to justify it

anyone know what the numbers are supposed to be for Wo3 so we can compare it as if it wasn't bugged?

Occasionally. Depends how accurate I'm feeling and for what purpose I'm flying my A-wing. If it's a large scale event, I'll use WO3 since even though I'm pretty accurate (most of the time) WO4 is a lvl 2 capacitor killer.

I've used it in single weapon hardpoint ships (Vaksai)and in my YT. Just have to pick your shots instead of the space lightsaber.

WO4 is 4xRED on the weapon and ordnance, as is EO4. Used together, you need one GIANT reactor.

WO4 E/S increase is 10x. yep. that 25e/s just became 250 with each trigger pull. Dunno what WO3 is supposed to be, never checked it with WO1 and WO2.

I believe WO4 grants 40% increase to damage, and WO3 grants 30% increase, but reduces the RED instead of the 3x cost multiplier it is supposed to have. (and that is 3x RED for all weapons and ordnance installed!!)

Think HOW balanced the light ships (heavy scyk, j95, tie, JSF/Bulb) would be if you had to have a reactor and capacitor in your ship that would actually RUN WO3; bring the bigger ships back into balance with the tiny ones.

And I get teased for epulsing from a Krayt...please....quit exploiting WO3 in the tiny ships and fight like a man! Drive a BUS to DS!

A Comprehensive Droid Routine Breakdown from the Pilot FAQ.

WO4 is 10x on boththe RED and E/S, and 200% damage. WO3 is 150% damage, if it was fixed it would be 3.33x on the RED and E/S.

Even bigger. The Reactor drain on WO4, and EO4 is 10x. WO3, should be 3x, but instead is .3333x.

WO3 increases damage by 2.5x, where WO4 increases by 3x.

RO4 increases generation by 1.9x

If you did a decent job REing agun and engine (1500 drain each), and want to run WO4 and EO4, you will need 30k energy just for those 2 components thats a 15790 reactor on RO4 then begin adding the drain of all your other components to that. As Kaiynwas so astute in pointing out, that is one GIANT reactor. Try getting it to work on a no POB ship with more than one gun. I guess you could sacrifice EO4, but what are we? Animals?

One more fun thing about the WO3 bug. I will use as an example a JSF with 2 guns that use 20 per shot and a 1000/40 capacitor on CO4. Using WO3 (fixed) that thing will fire for 7.4 seconds before the cap is fully drained. (that allows for recharge while you discharge) It will then take another 25s to fully recharge. I wonder how useful WO3 will be if it means you can't shunt. Pick your shots all you want, but only being able yo fire 13.7 seconds every minute if you do not shunt borders on useless at best, making even WO3 match for 1 gun ships, or perhaps 2x L8 reward with a big cap. Its funny, cause now you can slap any old set of guns in a ship and using WO3 your cap will not drain, and it even recharges while you are firing if you shunted.

Point is i agree with Kaiyn in that despite the fact that WO3 is meant to use 1/3 the energy of WO4 ist really the WO3 bug that makes WO4 seem so bad. This post might be called "does anyone use WO3?" were it not bugged. So fix it.

The 10% increase garnered by WO4 isn't worth using over WO3, even if they ever DO end up fixing it.

um with CO4 you can do ALOT more let's see 2 k max and 160 regen(300% increase not 3X's so 4X's base regen)that means it regens in 12.5 sec's to regen fully so your numbers are WAY off

I have to agree and disagree with this one.

I agree in part because for most ships, yes an increase in the damage is nothing compared to the ability to fire off more shots, especially in a circle joust or such.

However, I disagree as, like in an earlier post, with a Vaksai and the enormous combat capable speed demon it creates, WO4 works rather well. The cap with CO4 give over 3700 energy with 123 recharge and a REd L8 reward gun works rather well.

Again, very specific instance, but still

Instead of believingeverything you read, run CO4. You will see itincreases both recharge and energy by2x. Because I realized that i could have been mistaken, i launched and ran it before responding to your post. Perhaps you should have done the same.

Correct, my 59.2 cap puts 119.4 energy back each sec. Seen as 119 or 120 depending on the current charge.

Personally, I don't have a problem with running WO3; I use it myself. I do want to see it fixed, however. The reason being:it symbolizesa failure to fix simple bugs that have persisted for nearly a year. Even if it is fixed, I'll probably continue it, or downgrade to WO2. WO4 is overboard; it drained an overcharged RE6 capacitor in 3 shots.

I agree.WO3 if fixed will put the overloads back in order. Outside reward L8s, you will most likely not use WO3 with more than one gun in most instances.

Energy and droid commands will finally take their place next to mass when it comes to setting up ships

E.g. My current X-wing runs 2 L7's and a L6 (still waiting to re a 3rd L7).Might be getting a more continious DPS with 2 L7's and WO3 vs 3 L7's with WO1/2.

Lovely challenge, though I'm scared what it might do to my beloved B-Wing.
