I would like to see the devs address the issue of us not getting faction for our corrosponding ground faction reb/imp while in Deepspace theres realy no reason for it to be this way as we have all the risk but no reward the same as the imperial and rebel pilot types in DS. Also I would like to see pilot prestige exp beable to be converted to force sensitive exp at the village to help out on the grinding a bit. It doesn't have to be anything special heck make it 60 -1 or more ratio but atleast give those of us that get bored killing stuff on land over and over ad naseum another alternative.

Absolutely! It's ludicrous that this hasn't already been done - especially since it would have the added benefit of getting more variety of ships in Deep Space and maybe even a few more players.

No freaking way. Won't even say why, just do some searching for the previous threads on FS xp conversion.

I'm not going to comment on FS Conversion, that's a pain in the tailfin topic around here, and you should really look at some of the other HUGE threads on it.

As for faction in Deepspace for freelance, I disagree. There are both metagame and innergame reasons for this.

The faction rewards are for committing to a side, and the thrust of the game's GCW changes promote this as well. If you want the benefits, join a side. Eventually the GCW will mean something in Space and making this change now will not mesh well with some of the things they plan on I bet.

Also, it's a question of balance. You get the chance as freelance to shoot at anything and have a lot of ships that are red aggro for Faction pilots appear yellow to you. This is the payoff for you is the choice of targets in normal space, the payoff for us is the chance at faction in DS.

In the context of the game, there's no reason a faction would reward a Freelance pilot as much as it would reward a pilot that had signed up in their Navy. This would seriously undermine Pilot Morale. They are more than willing to let you help them, but they are going to reward their frontline pilots who are "assigned" to that duty, as opposed to a guy who just shows up for the heck of it (in the context of the game that's how it works, an Alliance or Imp pilot is on assignment, a Freelancer is someone who showed up).

>>Deepspace faction.

I think its how it should be now. Alliance and Imperial pilot are military pilots. Privateer is a civilian pilot, and one who sits on the fence during normal play. Could go into a whole spiel on this, suffice to say, i disagree with privateer gaining FP in DS. My 2cents, i know others disagree.

>> prestige exp converted to force sensitive exp

Horse is dead, really, it is. When pilot costs skill points, i *might* agree with you. See quote in sig.

You might knowthis, but if you declare before you go, you get your faction

You cannot declare and enter Deep Space as a Freelance pilot, none of the stations will take you.

I'm not as well versed on Freelance duties, do any of the T4's offer rebel or Imperial targets?

And what he knows and you don't: You can't go to deep space as declared freelancer. Freelance station says your imp/rebel. Imp/rebel station says you don't have the imp/rebel prestige.

Only one I can think of is the Smuggler's Alliance Destroy Duty, with TIE aggies.

I'm all for Master Pilot costing points as long as it counts towards your ground rank being CL 80. Aswell as them adding a metric ton of content to do in space for those people that enjoy that aspect of the game more. Like instanced areas were opposing factions can assault/defend star stations or capital class ships more missions beyond ace/master more ships to choose from for quest etc and actualy get PoB ships upgraded to were they can function decently.

At first I was inclined to agree with you Ducimus, but after tonight I'm not so sure. On paper your argument sounds good, and it's probably more realistic. But Freelance pilots invest just as much into their faction as anyone else, and honestly the ability to kill either faction outside of DS really isn't that great of a tradeoff. I'm dropping Freelance again just as soon as they fix the respec issues because I can't faction with it, and I wonder how many other pilots do the same. Even though I love the Freelance ships, not being able to gain faction is a major handicap.

You can gain plenty of faction as a Freelance, you just can't drink from the deepest well in the game. Yeah, in practical terms, maybe the ability to shoot anything doesn't "mean" as much, but we're explaining the logic behind the system, not the practical applications for the "player on the street" Personally I find the ability to help either side with my freelance pilot much more valuable than gaining faction, but I have the luxury of multiple accounts and multiple pilots on each.
