What to say... I just got this game about two weeks ago. Jumped in, and had SO much fun with the piloting stuff. Was really loving the JTL expansion. Then I got sent to Endor.... Now I want to @$%$@ murder me some devs. I have been stuck at 2222 with max xp for a week. Came to forums and read up on it... Went and got me some decent RE'ed parts... Learned that A-Wings are much easier if you target their engines... Made it a little easier but still cant manage to beat it. I have stopped counting how many attempts I have made at the set. I just got through getting past 4 of them again only to get totally destroyed by random non-involved tier 4 ships. I know there has to be a lvl of challenge to this stuff, but this is flat out stupid. Even with a weapon that does 1112 - 1383 damage it seems impossible to destroy a full wave before the next is on me. I will get it down to 2 targets remaining and then boom 5-7 more pop in. And that is only the FIRST of the god only knows how manyBACK TO BACK CRAP FEST MISSIONS. -rips his hair out and throws it at anonamous dev number 1- I went so far as to even try just flying defensive... The ships you escort are nice and tough so if I can manage to avoid fire long enough mission complete. Done this a couple times. Once it failed to work because the nine hundred A-wings didn't despawn upon mission complete. So there I was running screaming towards the Endor station with every one of them focused on my rear. Needless to say I didnt last long.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what I am doing wrong? I loved this stuff until I hit this string of missions. None of the others were too hard. They were just tough enough to get me excited and still be beaten. But I am so sick of totally redoing all these missions that I don't even want to get in my ship anymore.

WELCOME TO STORM SQUADRON!!!

This has been called (and complained about) as the hardest squad to fly in all of JTL. Do not despair, this wookiee can help.

Tier 3 is rough, especially if you are new to JTL.

PLease help us help you, we gotta have details to help out. What are the mission specs?

What kind of equipment are you using in your ship?

Are you flying the TIE/LD, TIE fighter or TIE/IN

I am assuming you aren't in the TIE Interceptor yet.

I am doing all of the pilot squads and am now done with my 6th of 9, which was Storm Squad. If you are on Scylla, send an in game tell to Narrganocca (or email) and I will gladly help before I go back to rebel.

If you give details of your mission and ship here, we can all make recomendations for changes.

most importantly..are you using a flight computer?

If not, then I suggest this, buy yourself a level 3 flight comp. load it with engine and weapon overload 2 from imperial pilot, and then find aprivateer nice enough to give you reactor and capacitor overload 2 chips and a cap to shield shunt 2 or 3 program.

All of these should fit in your level 3 Flight comp. Make sure to use reactor overload first, then overload engine, capacitor and weapons.

This will help emmensely if you are not already using these programs

Oh yeah, try to find some help with missions too...JTL is NOT meant to be soloed every step of the way, especially for new pilots

Click on my name and search for my post in here on exactly this.

Got some great advice and very very nearly did it with a friend of mine the other day.

The key is disable DONT kill enemy ships. Worked a treat and we only failed because my friend got aggroed by some ships outside the mission and couldn't get away.

Since the post I have discovered ship computers and am playing around with that and the various commands before we give it another go.

Be warned though that this is a LONG LONG mission. Took us *well* over an hourbefore we were on the fourth transporter spawn.

Ok the mission details...

Mission one - Escort the Engineer ship- Pretty much a standard escort mission. The enemy comes in waves and they come fast. Not having too many problems with this one as most a Z95, X-wing and Y-wing. (takes forever for the ship to finally jump out, but not too hard) Upon finishing, a few moments later you recieve...

Mission two - Rescue the Engineer ship that has been taken over by rebels - This one is tricky. The same ship from mission one has suddenly jumped 10-12k back intot he system and is overrun with rebels. Objective: Disable the ship, wait long enough for operatives to reclaim the ship, and then escort it to safty. The catch... The ship has a detachment of A-Wings with it and more show up as the mission progresses. How I have handled it thus far is this... Rush in, get under ship and match speed, disable it while using it as cover from the A-Wings. Once disabled, I take out from under it and start to fight back. Assuming I am not dead from bad luck (sometimes the A-Wings really nail ya while your under the ship and sometimes they kinda seem to not be able to get thier bearings). I try to disable them asap and move on to the next. Getting no xp so no REAL motivation to go for the kill. This continues with waves of A and B wings swarming. If you can make it through all that and get mission complete up next is...

Mission three - Inspect the Rebel Advanced Recon fighter - Fairly simple after the difficulty of the first two missions... All you need to do for this one is disable an A-Wing, Inspect and dock. Only times I have ran into issues with this one were when outside ships get involved and once when the target ship would not allow me to dock so I killed him, waited on respawn and got it right that time. Upon completing mission...

Mission four - Rescue the Imperial Freighter - Another escort mission /sigh... This one has you flying to a disabled ship, docking to assist with repairs, and then escorting it. A challenging mission with ships of all types to this point raiding you inwaves. Much like the other missions in this set it seems to be more of an endurance run than just a simple shoot em down. Last it out and you reach the point I have not passed yet...

Mission five - Something about a Data stream, told to fly to it... I have yet to actually make it to this mission waypoint so I can't really give details about it. Seems every time I do Mission four I end up with unwanted company chasing me after the mission and I can't shake em. I go nuts trying... Rolls, double backs, boosters... Just seems like there is no way a tier 2 ship can shake a Tier 4 one.

As for my ship, I am flying the TIE/In chassis. I will post better details about my gear in next post. Will start on it now, but gonna post this on up so people have a better idea which missions I am talking about. Thanks for the positive response too btw. Was expecting to get flamed and told that I just need to learn to shoot or similar.

Ship details.

TIE/In chassis

Max mass - 39,384

Max Energy - 13,314

Chassis - 698

Reactor - RE'ed lvl 5- Armor 271.3-HP 327 - Energy 13313 -

Engine - Not RE due to compared stats. Lower AC and HP vs higher speed

- Armor 118.6 - HP 123.9 - Pitch 61 - Yaw 58 - Roll 60 - Top speed 63 -

Shield - RE'ed lvl 5 - Armor 187 - HP 423 - Front and Back Shield HP 935 - Recharge 7.48 -

Front Armor - Non RE'ed due to stats - MandalMotors Heavy Composite - AC 858 - HP 858 - Better than the RE'ed rear armor I have even. lol

Rear Armor - RE'ed lvl 5 - AC 810 - HP 810 -

Capacitor - Probably not the best part but I cant find one with better energy pool and recharge rate...

- AC 37 - HP 39 - Max Energy 935 - Recharge 30.9 -

Booster - AC 157 - HP 179 - Max energy 1650 - Consumption 152 - Recharge 43- Top speed 25 -

Droid interface not loaded... -blush- I really dont quite understand the droid/nav comp stuff. They seemed risky to use based on in-game descriptions so I opted to not use the commands. Will have to look into it more I guess.

Weapon - RE'ed lvl 5 QV-5 Disruptor - AC 231 - HP 251- Dmg 1112.4 to 1383.9 - vs shields 0.360 -

- vs Armor 0.680 - Energy/Shot 25.4 - Refire rate: 0.360 -

No missiles or countermeasures installed. Have never gotten a single drop on these. Are they all player made or something? Excuse the dumb remark, but like I said I am pretty new to SWG so I am still getting my feet wet when it comes to roaming the planets. Any advice on possible part upgrades etc would be much appreciated! I am dying to get past these crap missions and get into a Tier 3 chassis! /drool on Vader's ship. Me likey!

Thanks Quent, excellent post. Until nowI didn't realise there was a 5th part to this mission.

I am getting the feeling that this storm squadron 3rd tier is something not many people have actually done. I can't believe anyone has soloed it. The feedback on my posts has all been good advice but a bit 'generic'.

I would like to see a post from someone who has actually completed this storm squadron mission with some honest advice for us. Can it be soloed (only say yes if you have actually done it), how long does it take (several people have said 45 mins but just to get to the 4th bit took me way longer than that) and where does it end ( is it just 5 parts or is it actually longer than that?).

Well I haven't mastered SS but I am on my last tier 3 mission. Ship looks good man. There is one giant problem.

DROID PROGRAMS!!

I was the same way. Bah don't need em don't even know what they do. There is great info on the boards here. Go to the FAQ sticky and there is a droid program link. That is going to push your ship to get these missions done. If you can get some programs from a freelance guy also to load in. Weapon cap to sheild is a must have as well as capacitor overload. Those with your engine overload are gonna help you. Try to find it here on the boards its allot to type over again.

Next thing. Get help. One person makes all the difference. Those guys who say "solo'd SS" in 2.5 hours with the tie light duty are insane (yah I know I'm embelishing).

You have got to get into droid programs. There's a link on the sticky FAQ above. Don't forget that you can use any program from any faction but you just have to buy pre-programmed modules from people's vendors for progs your faction doesn't have. I use Weap Overload 1, Cap Overload 2, and I have Cap to Shield Shunt 3 loaded up atm because that's all the data room I have in my computer.

Get a weapon with a better shield penetration percentile. The dmg is nice but it's not doing much if it's not getting through. I'm also working through SS Tier 3 right now but I have 1100-1600 dmg blaster with .67 on both armor and shield penetration.

That's solid advice. If you can't reverse engineer or buy a gun like that, however, try to find a shipwright to build you a level 5 gun with a quickshot upgrade. You'll definitely need to be running droid commands to take full advantage of it--specifically Capacitor Overload--but when you're restricted to one weapon slot, amping up the speed on your gun (in this case, to .270-.280) can be a huge help.

Oh, and missiles and countermeasures are indeed all player-crafted.

Thanks so much for all the great info everyone! Gonna see about these droid/nav comp programs asap. If they help me get past this ordeal I am gonna have to kiss some feet! Thanks also for pointing me towards other helpful posts etc. Much better than the typical, "This has been asked 100,000 million billion times JOO NEWB! Try searching teh forumz before asking such newb questions!"

Hi it's funny becuase I am at the same exact spot as you now. In fact we were probably both throwing our headsets across the room at the same time.

I can say I got to the part on mission 1 where you help the transport and the tier 4 Pirates come and blow me up. So that's as far as I have gotten,I am going to try again tonight. But it took me about 12 tries to even get that far solo.

One question I use weapon overload 2 my capacitor is 40.9 recharge rate but my capacitor engery bar goes to 0 in about 15 shots, is there any advice on how I boost this? I am flying a Tie/In 20K mass

My reactor is 12800, any help would be great.
