Hi All

This post will be of interest to some! And i may become the Anti Christ to others so hear goes!

IMO the ships should be a lot more even in terms of mass in there class level.
The reason being this is supposed to be a Twitch based add on? NOT a I have a more Uber set of components than you do!

I have played many games over to many years lol, and i enjoy the reaction time with SKILL games BUT there seems to be a quick drift into super ship this and super ship that! and that won’t work in twitch?
The reason being people will shout unfair you have Uber 1000000 shield strength how on earth do you shoot that down!

Yes i hear you cry, you could go and get Uber gun X with 1000000 damage but what’s the point?

If this is to be a real twitch game lets make things more even in terms of equipment/ships etc at Master leval then its down to who can out fly/shoot the next guy!
That was the fun part of Battlefield 1942 and the DC add-on, Yes there was a mad run to get say a Tank BUT it did not matter if you were good you could still take the guy out with C4, mines etc it was skill not equipment that made it work!

I am enjoying JTL on the whole but at 4-4-4-4 it’s starting to get boring grinding now for master and that looks like another uphill struggle why is this? Why can’t it be fun?
Tier 1 and 2 was FUN with a big F.
Tier 3 and 4 frustration and on the whole boring shoot.. shoot... shoot the same stuff over and over again the best thing was helping people out on there tier 3 missions and do something with real people "difficult to do this on Duty Missions when YOU need the EX"

There are a few things that i think if changed would make this a much more long lived add on, most of the people who got master and were helping me out a couple of weeks ago are all ground based again WHY?
What is there to do when master finally comes my way PvP yes please but i want a fair field to play on not one stacked with super parts made before fixes and patches are put into place!

Please can we have fun hear and make things more interesting!

What would people like to see to make things more fun??

First off... what are you grinding for master? It's 2 missions and you have the skill. Secondly if you want to play a game like 1942 that "all players are created equal" then go play that game. The point behind Games like SWG, EQ, and so on and so on... is to gather better and better items either by hunting or buying. That's what makes this game fun, is all the different stuff we can get. Games like this are about customazation, if you don't like it then play 1942.

If they really wanted there to be lots of PvP in space, they need another PvPzone that only allows ships with 12K mass. At this level it would be cheap enough to be fun. No uber parts fit into a 12K mass ship. The starter ships for all sides are virtually identical in performance too.

This is the kind of thing that will make PvP in space more than a passing fad. I could see giving this a try myself. Even if my 12K ship bites the dust, I could afford to buy 1000 more.

I am going to flesh out this idea and make another thread later.

i would like to see tier based arenas for dogfighting. like a space battlefield restricted to tier 2 ships and weapons, or whatever tier. one for each.

then we would still have a use for the light ships once we move on. you could even make tier X ships with a max of tier Y stuff, or heavy fighters only, or mp ships only. to add real fun, keep a running board showing the top killer for the day. to add uber supreme fun, put in stats, % hit, kill/death ratio, all the stats we can get.

ww2online does a great job in the stas dept, and mco did a great job in utilizing the low level 'stuff' later in game.

I think that you'll find that as you get to master and start maxing out your components, you'll find that everyone is just about equal. If you're a Tier 2 guy fighting a Tier 4 guy, then yes, you will get the crap kicked out of you no matter how good you are (not always...but you know what I mean). If you're a Master taking on another Master, then odds are that you both will have a boatload of uber components and skill will definatly be the deciding factor.

I think your missing the point!
JTL is a twitch based add-on to a very good stats based game i enjoy SWG and JTL but there seems to be to much ground based game ideas getting into the twitch side!

If you’re saying that my parts are better than yours so i can win every time because of it then ok, if that floats your boat fine by me but that kind of goes against the idea of twitch.
My understanding and experience of twitch games are all are equal or can be quite quickly and are not forced to quest for a month just to find a single component on a long list of components just to start to get to an equal footing?

BUT IMO if the Twitch element was encouraged it will bring more people into the game who enjoy the twitch style of play!

And I really REALLY want to do PvP!!

Battlefield 1942 was and is a very successful game it never hurts to improve on a tried and tested formula!
There are not many free to play games with the longevity that 1942 has enjoyed!

Well the game is not about Balance.

I say keep the ships just like they are. Sure the Rebel ships are better due to mass and its about bloody time we got the advantage in something. Look at the ground game,Imps get the AT-ST and rebels got squat. If they make ships even then I say give the Rebel's something comparable to an AT-ST. Fair is Fair if we are going to go down that road.

Excuse me??? Try just about any Half-Life mod. They have all been around for YEARS. Counter-Strike is 5 years old.

Now, back to the topic...

I agree that space should be more twitch and less components. The definition of any "twitch" game is you are testing human skill/reflex. If you base abilities on items, then the skill is based on time invested in collecting items.

Just my 2 cents.

No i think i would like all to be equal!
I would like skill to be more important than the ship you fly other than if you want to fly small and fast great!! be an annoying pest or jump in a MP ship and have the mass to hold your own i think it would be a lot more fun that way skill not parts is the way to go!

Yeah, ok. So what you're saying is if you have a gun in your ship that's a max dmg of say, 450, you should be able to down my 2000 hp shields as fast as someone wtih a 3000 dmg gun??? i think not... This is a twitch based aspect to an rpg, and the tier system needs to remain intact. You can customize your ship, kind of like you could customize your mech in mech warrior. You decide what you want to put in there. Now, in my ship, with primary weapons that each have 3700 max dmg, I can down just about anyone's shields in 1-2 shots, and it's a kill in 2-3 shots. Now, if you come at me, because of the whole thing with mass in this game, attack me with a single weapon that does 2200 dmg, you will down me in 2-3 hits easy. That seems balanced to me. Now, if you're in the starter tie, and you attack me with a gun that'll do 300 max dmg, damn right you're not going to stand a chance. It's a tier-based twitch system. You should stand less of a chance against an ace pilot than you do a tier 2. The uber components really aren't needed in this game for pvp. Someone who has a 1000 max dmg gun will down me in 3-4 hits, seems fair enough to me.

I don't care if I'm going up against a Firespray, a B-Wing, or just about any of the Privateer ships, I'm still going to win, even though my master ship is capable of less mass and whatnot. I happen to really like the twitch-based system they currently have, and I for one think they should just reduce the pvp damage even moreso than they have, but point is to this game, if you have 2 guns that will do 2500 max dmg facing forward, you stand an equal chance of downing me with my 2 forward guns that each have 3700 max dmg.
