Thread: How do Weapon Tuning and Weapon Overload affect missiles?

Do they simply modify the reactor drain of the launchers? Or do they modify missile damages?

Weapon Overload DOES increase missile damage.

Makes me wonder what tuning does. Its supposed to reduce the energy per shot with blasters but also reduces the weapons damage. Of course, thats one command no one uses. So who knows what it will do wtih missles, if anything.

Wow - didnt know about this one.

I do know that if youre not running reactor overload, and your reactor is near max while you are running weapon overload/cap overload/ engine overload, in various combinations, the first thing I lose power from is my missle launcher. When I go to fire missles I will get a 'weapon disabled' system message.

If you look at your Ship Components screen, the components are disabled from the bottom up when you do not have enough Energy, until enough components have been disabled that there is enough Energy for the components left running.

I'd really prefer a more detailed answer before I buy into this. How'd you test it?

Well i can tell you this much, the repair bill for 1 L10, 1L8 and 3 IR's is 36 credits after running WO3.

Its closer to 18ish credits if the missles tubes are not on board.

2 mark 3 protons on a 'vette component without: component damaged

2 mark 3 protons on a 'vette component with: component destroyed.

Is that just 1 run through? Missiles do have a range of damage, which includes a low end.

I can't tell you how it was done because I wasn't the one who tested it, but some of the guys in our tactics division came to the same conclusion about WO affecting missile damage. I'll try to get some more useful information about it.

Another way to tell is by looking at the math in PvP. I use dual Image Rec II missile launchers on my KSE. The missiles are 2782-4703 damage, .41/.41. Without Weapon Overload, the max damage both of those missiles could do in PvP would be 2892. That's not enough to one-shot someone who's using a Level 8 reward shield, however from my experience in PvP, if both of my missiles hit, my opponent's chassis drops to 0% the vast majority of the time. Thus Weapon Overload must be raising the damage of the missiles and not just that of the guns.
