When I kill aggressors I target the turret and take it our first. However, when I see them coming and I target the turret (weapon1) and I do the initial run at them it will auto untarget the turret with the first hit the aggressor gets on me and I have to reaquire the target onweapon 1. It does not happen with any other ship I fight against.Once I have taken the first hit and aquire the target on weapon1 again it does not fail again. It only makes me lose lock on the initial hit from the aggressor.
Its annoying as heel because I am too focused keeping trach of where the aggressor is heading to look all the way up to the right corner of my screen to see if weapon 1 is still targeted as it should be. Anyone else have this trouble?
If this is something that I have screwed up let me know. I have paide very close attention for the past weekwhen grinding on aggressors to see if I am doing something wrong. I am confidant the problem is not with me so I post here for you help. Thanks!

I have that problem with other ships but it is a random thing so far as i can see. But is am sure there is some pattern to it. It happens to me when i am fighting groups of ships and i get hit with a missle i belive when my targeting turns off and i have to re-target the reactor (which is what i go after on small ships)

I think it happens when you get shot. Ive noticed it a few times when im taking out rebel pilots engines. As soon as I get hit by another fighter, I loose the component lock.

Here's the bug:
You are not in combat, you fly up to a ship where you plan to attack a component of the ship, so you select the component.
Anyship shoots you, and the component is de-selected. This does not happen again as long as you keep your current target ship selected.
100% reproducable.

I have lost my sub-component target when a group member changes to your current server or travels to a different system aka the system message that states "Channel Listing Complete"
Keeping dropping more info here. Maybe we can gather enough for me to put together and add to the issues list as a "bug"

Person above I think mentioned exactly what the problem is. You Target something prior to being in combat, then attack it, you get shot by anything (even your target in some cases) and the sub component targeted gets dropped. It only seems to happen on the initial attack prior to all the enemies reacting to you. After they've shot at you and you reselect the sub component it stops happening. I can't recall this happening in deep space but I don't really try and select sub components there. It is most annoying when doing missions and you have a swarm of fighter protecting a ship you have to capture. You target the engine and start firing, sub component drops with no warning once the escorts attack, instead of disabling ship you destoy it.
It's definitely not just the aggressor that this happens on.

I believe I've had it happen multiple times per craft to me. If I remember right.

I think if you manage to get the first hit you can avoid this bug. You just have to make sure that nothing hits you along the way.

Yes, I started to watch for when I lose targeting and I did lose target of the turret twice. I was not in battle, I targeted aggressors turret, got a few shots of, got hit, lost target. I reaquired turret and there was an enemy not grouped with the aggressor and other ships I was fighting that came closer and started a battle with me, when it shot me I lost target again. So the guy that defined the bug above is on the right track, except that you can lose target of the sub comp each time a ship you are not in battle with decides to hit you.

No, I am sure I have gotten the first hit many times and I still lost the target when I was shot by one. However I will continue to watch what is going on when this happens and also double check what your suggesting here.

If I am not mistaken, I read somewhere that when you are targeted...you get that beep sound to warn you. The same beep sound you get when you target something. I put two and two together and think that everytime you are targeted by a ship, and it gives you that beep, that it glitches and retargets the ship you are on...not recognizing the component. It is in not exclusive to any ship as far as I know, and is quite deffinatly one of the more annoying glitches in the game. I might add that this seems to happen alot more when i am in groups fighting, which I attribute to the enemy targeting my group members, then re-targeting me when I am in their sights.

Yeah, the bug is really annoying. Like others said, it happens when you get hit. I don't know how many times I'll be fighting something, trying to take out the component, then I get hit and the component lock de-selects. It's really annoying when I'm in a fight with a bunch of other ships, and I'm trying to take out one... I don't really have the time to select the component again when I'm already trying to dodge fire.

You may have noticed the "feature" that when you do not have anything targeted and you are hit the ship that hit you becomes your target. My suspicion is that whatever mechanism does that automatic targeting does not recognize a targeted subcomponent as a "real" target and treats the situation as though you had nothing targeted.
If that is the case the bug is that having a subcomponent targeted is not recognized as having a target by some other systems.
