Thread: Strakes and Winglets what the heck do they do?
I just made a Stake for a rebel pilot friend, and as near as we can tell, all it does is just make your ship look fatter.
Any functionality in these things or are they just purely asthetic? The ROTW ships description from earlier would leave you to belive there was supposed to be a mass increase, and as near as we can tell, NOTHING has increased at all.

Maybe it increases one of the intangible stats, like the PYR mods for the chassis.
Thought of that too, he said he didnt notice any change.
Maybe some recharge rate somewhere?
Heh, watch it be a capactior recharge rate buff.. as if anyone needed another one of those ! lol
Ohhh i can already imagine the complaining about this one.
I should have know somethign was up at the get go thoguh. Its only like 300 units of resoruces to make, and quality doesnt matter, its like making a starship paint kit, you dont even get to experiment on it.
I suspect, its PURELY asthetic. Its far too cheap to make, and you cant experiment on it.

Check the Mass, it should have gone up.
He said it didn't. *shrug* maybe the stats changed when he landed. Put the strake in, looked at it, didnt notice anything, launched. Flew around, didnt notice anything, landed.
Anyway, its old news now. Strakes and winglets are cosmetic. They have no functionality.
It makes your starfighters go 'Faster', just like those stupid waste of material wings that people put on the back of their tricked out (front wheel drive!) Honda Civics. Those things don't really do a single thing, other then make the driver of one of those cars look stupid.
In physics terms, those wings are only going to make a difference if traveling well over 100mph (I don't recall the actual speed, but I seem to remember something like nearing 200mph) and even then, all they do is push the back end of the car onto the ground, which you don't want if you have a front wheel drive car in the first place...

Actually those do serve a purpose. They let you know that the guy/gal in the car is a jackarse and is probably twiddling with the $5000 stereo in their $500 car, instead of paying attention to the road. Do you remember that Audi race car that would raise a fin in back and a couple on the sides as well as opening a port on the hood for forced air intake at about 100mph? Man I wish I could remember the model. It looked sweet, and had another 100mph left after the fin popped out. *shrug*

This season, the guys are back in full effect, transforming more ships and more lives. As usual, D-2-teh-V; Darth Vader -- Dark Jedi Pimp Master of Ceremonies himself-- will be pulling pilots out of Kessel, who are guilty of committing heinous ship style crimes... Thankfully, D-2-teh-V and the guys at East Theed Customs are willing to lend their Jedi magic andmechanical touch.
When D arrives at Mott's quarters, Mott is so psyched, he can't help but to run over and give D a giant Wookiee hug, lifting D into the air. D is a bit shocked by this gesture, but definitely understands Mott's excitement and decides not to force choke him.
Mott's Tie/In barely qualifies as a fighter. Thecountermeasures will no longer be occupying the better half of thecockpit. D can't help but laugh at Motts's makeshift lifesupport system-- a fan patched into a power converter mounted on the forward controll pannel and a chain and padlock holds seat to the floor, and the electrical wiring is so shorted out, the blasters go off every time Mott presses the /comm button.
Back at ETC, Mott's Tie is completely gutted, the blaster marks all over the chassis are sanded out. In an attempt to make this Tie/in into an Imperial luxury fighter, the capacitor, blasters, and boosters are replaced with Agressor parts. The non-existent solar visors are replaced with new ones holding 5-inch monitors. These two monitors are contrasted by the two 7-inch monitors on either side of the headrest.
Next, a fresh coat of custom-color paint is added. Watto gives the body a nice shade of Royal Guard Red, and to give it that extra shine and sparkle, he puts on a clear coat with metallic flakes. Boba accents the brand new pilot seat with Iopie white leather and bantha wooly hide to match the rest of the interior.
A few last minute touches are added to Mott's fighter before he sees his new Tie/In. Gold spinner Winglets are added to the solar pannels. The previously non-existent radio is replaced by a brand new Imperial satellite radio system and an MP69 player so he can listen to music. In the armrest is a 7-inch DVD player to complete the entertainment system so Mott can watch videos while making the Kessel run.
D presents Mott with a ETC shirt before he heads to Kessel in his new Tie. Mott can finally fly around with confidence and respect.
Mott, you've just been pimped!
