Anyone here consider it griefing to fly along with the Corellia Corvette and blow up the /bstrike ships? I just realized the other day I could do this, and when I have time, I plan to engage in this fun little diversion.

I would consider it greifing if your screwing with a genuine effort to complete the master mission.

I woudln't consider it greifing if it's just some bored schumuck like me soloing the vette for the umpteenth time, and only doing it because it's there.

Personally i think your tredding in dangerous waters. Your gonna piss someone off eventually. Besides, if you want to 'defend your turf', do it for real and go overt.

Who said I wasn't overt?

It's them sitting white dot 2km away watching their bombers do the work that are the chickens

your just bored then. lol.

This isn't a Bstrike jealousy thing is it?

Honestly, outside of a few teir missions and the vette, once you make ace, you hardly ever use it as there isnt much need for it.

Now there's somethign to be said about free missles and chaff.. Even if their crappy. LOL.

I mainly use Bstrike in DS as a cover if I get jumped by one of the dozens of vettes there when I am attacking something else. They show up fast...

It borders on griefing because you are forcing a PvP situation onto a player or group that may be looking only for PvE content. Granted, if either side is not overt then the conflict is not directly with them, but it is still PvP interference as the BStrike ships could be considered an extension of the Imperial who called them. I see it only an issue (a) because a Rebel could do it while hiding behind covert status making overt Imperials unable to stop him/her or (b) because a covert Imperial should not have to deal with enemy player interference. The ideal situation is that both sides are all overt, but what's the chance of that?

Rebels actually do have to PAY for these awful missles when the repair ship comes they are billed.

being able to repair away from a station is a nice ability tho.

I thinkwe might be on a real borderline here if not possibly a step past. (And I may be out on a limb here but....)

I could see some very good agruments for this being grief. "A rebel player in kessel who is not attackable by the imperial players, by choice of either party, "camps" kessel looking for small groups of imperial players using bomber strike". Nowthe unatckable could be just the same if theyou were overt and they were notOR ifthey were overt and you chose to gocovert. These tools (BS and repair/replenish, IFF, etc) were put in the game to help both PvE and PvP styles of play, and all things considered its not a good argument to say "we don't have a BS and can do it fine" in the context of this conversation.

Now in Deep Space then all this is a moot point because you consent to full PvP upon entering. Less of an issue on other missions as they are easier to repeat but still valid, but as best as I can find that "Intentionally trying to gate another player from progress" can be considered grief, but I can't find an official post on this atm. This is less murky IMHO when you are crossing over the PvE and PvP lines and doing it durring what can be one of the tougher missions due to time, spawn, etc.

I would assume that theseare some of thereasons why we have the new TEF rules on ground and itis the reason Kessel was changed to a non-perma overt area. If you want an "official" response let me know. But I think if wesit down and mull it over for a while we might all end up thinking the same thing.

If a stray hit lands on a Bomberstrike fighter, you can get the whole group on you.

What choice would a player have but to destroy the entire wave when you have a bunch of Tier 5 fighters going after you?

Besides that, If you're Rebel and see an attackable TIE, why would you NOT attack it? From XP, to Prestige Points, to Loot, especially in those times when Kessel is completely dead as far as spawns and you're itching to attack SOMEthing. Why is a sector that's supposed to be -SO CONTESTED- -SO EMPTY- -SO MUCH-of the time?

What if you work for the Hutts, and after taking out a Bomberstrike group, you go ahead and destroy the Corvettethat it was attackinganyway?

I don't think this is griefing. Rebel players are free to engage any imperial ships in the area. Bomberstrikes qualify as that. Griefing would be engaging players who are in the process of attacking the corvette. (Which was allowed at one time...)

I think there is a difference between:

and something like:

Its as much about motovation as anything. I see a big difference between "happened by accident" and "engaging in a fun diversion" - "looking for a better reason to cover up the reason you are doing it"

But I can take a guess that you are more "looking for a reason not to look like you are doing it on purpose" then anything else.

I thought the main reason Kessel was made PvE was to stop endemic loadkilling? I don't see what I did as any more griefing than the overt imp who tried to /launchm spam me and sent me annoying tells when I was in my Nova helping a group do the 'vette.

Since it's not clearin my original post, I found this out by accident, from just such a stray shot. Since the pilot was not overt and simply hanging 2km waiting for the bombers to do his work for him, I don't feel particularly bad about it, gating or not. Sitting there and watching Bstrikes take out the 'vette for you is borderline unattended play.

My position remains the same, I think. If I'm in Kessel overt, and I see a player using this "tactic" I'm more than likely going to peel his bombers off.

Hmm, i could be mistaken but i believe Kessel to PvE was a temporary fix until they get a new master mission created. In otherwords i think it was over the uproar about having to enter a PvP sector to master -w hich im quite sure the loadkilling contributed greatly to.

of course at this point, kessel to PvE is more like a "temporarly permanent fix". With the Combat Upgrade being top priority, i dont see a new master mission created/kessel restored to PvP for quite some time.
